Hello guys! I'm new to this forum thing so please bear with me. I need your expert advise.

I bought this Egnater Renegade 1x12 combo and I just fell inlove with it. I used to have a Line 6, Fender Hotrod Deluxe, and a Vox AC30 but man I found my tone in this renegade and if I was given the chance to buy a new amp it would still be an Egnater - definitely!

Now I had this amp for almost a year now then it started to have problems, it started to have some unwanted clipping (even on the clean channel) and it was cutting off at times, the worse thing is it happened in the middle of a gig  . I had it checked with our local Egnater dealer (under warranty) and all they did was cleaned the inside and advised me to turn the master volume to its max when using it, and not to use too much gain...

So anyway unwanted clipping is gone. But now this is my problem: There's no sound coming out of the amp when I turn it on (of course this is after amp is on standby for 10min or more, master vol at 12 oclock). So I turn my master volume to max and try to strum hoping it will work soon. 2 things happen: its either 1) It suddenly makes this very loud (and I mean LOUD, its a renegade on maximum volume after all) popping sound, then it doesnt work again - this is what happens often; or 2) i get lucky - it works...then i turn the dials to desired levels. Mind you I havent used the amp at gigging volume yet after it has been checked, but I remember this amp works perfectly at bedroom volume when I bought it so even though this beast is meant to be played loud I know there's something wrong somewhere.

Please I need all the good advise I could get to save this amp (and my hearing). Thank you. =)

After a year it is reasonable to replace the tubes. Likely culprit.

+1 Oh, and try KT88's at least on one side if you like the crunch. Sounds huge!

It is OK to replace tubes over time but
in your case, of course they are not all bad. Sounds like something has simply come loose inside. Any good repair person should be able to diagnose and repair this fairly easily. Contact Nate@egnateramps.com for help.

Thanks everyone. =) I'll let our tech know about this.

Oosh-guitar, i would check all the fx loop jacks. Clean them, or just plug a cable in and out of each one for a while. Deoxit is great for cleaning jacks... I'll bet that's the culprit...If that doesn't work try some different preamp tubes. Take one out at a time, replace it, try the amp. If it's stll funky, go to the next one. Process by elimination.
