I just got a matched pair of svetlana 6550's for my mod 50 from doug's tubes, I put them in and biased them a 40 millivolts. Now my amp is making a terrible buzzing/humming noise that get worse the closer i get to my amp. I wasn't there before, it almost sounds like its modulating or something. It's doing it on both of my modules, it's much worse the higher the gain gets. I tried different guitars and different cables and it didn't help. Can anyone please suggest a solution to this problem

Does it do the same with the old power tubes or just the new ones?

In that case it would seem to me that maybe the new tubes are busted, since it works fine with the old tubes and not with the new ones. That was the only variable you changed so it seems likely that's the problem.

Contact Doug and let him know. He should take care of you. Bummer man, but those things happen with the glass bottles sometimes.

Please give a little more info.
1) Amp worked fine.
2) Installed the 6550s and now it buzzes but only when you go near the amp with the guitar plugged in and the instrument volume up, correct?
3) Put the original power tubes back in and there is no problem? Put the 6550s back in the problem returns?
4) Same cables, guitar etc. No other changes? Verify the module thumb screws are tight.

Please understand this does not make any sense. I can't even come up an obscure reason for it. Please be sure you are telling us everything. Seems there
must be something you might be leaving out or doing different between tube changes?

After all the tube changing I found out it was a bad power cord, i played it at practice with another power cord and it worked great, sorry for bugging you guys, thanks for all your insight, by the way bruce, your amps kick @$$!
