Hi there... I'm on as a new member because a few months back I got hold of the 100w Einstein prototype from a chap on Harmony Central:
Great amp, kills the Mesa with regards to tone, and as it has the channel switch mod it's got plenty of versatility too.
Peter, if you happen to read this:
1) Great amp!
2) It has no external bias points, but does it have the same pair-wise bias that the production 100w model has?
If so... I'm looking to put a pair of Winged C Svet EL34s and a pair of JJ KT-88s in. Mmm. If not, quad of Winged Cs.
3) The 'clean' mode of Channel 2 is a lot louder then the 'texas' and 'crunch' modes. This isn't an issue as I can use the 2 master volumes independently (have Lead channel & crunch/texas modes dialed to one, have clean mode dialed to the 2nd) but is it possible to mod the amp to bring that mode's volume into line with the others on that channel?
4) I haven't used the reverb yet, but a regular latch type footswitch (Marshall, for example) should work?
Anyway, yeah, a fun amp and I really enjoy it. I couldn't resist it when it came up for sale!! Jamie in the UK is going to have to wait a while until I can afford to buy a Herbert from him!
EDIT: Oh yes, and boosting the amp with a modded TS-9 is just plain wrong!
