PRS Archon 50 - Seems to get alot of love, yet under the radar?? Hidden Gem?

That's a US 50 watt definitely. They had the brushed nickel face plate. Ask for a video of the fx loop. I believe the original run of USA amps were hardwired and designed by Doug Sewell.

There should be a bright switch that helps a bit. It's not obnoxiously dark and you can adjust the depth/presence and tone pretty easily. You can dial in a decent bite.

Thank you...So are the original American models considered to be superior tonally? The effects loop ios not an issue for me as I will never use it.

I've only heard/played two Archons and both were USA 100 watts from the first run. I don't think you can go wrong with the USA 100 or 50. They're not that much more expensive used and they've got great quality components.

I don't think so. I specifically got the import version because the FX loop was supposed to be improved. The overall design of the amp is the same.
 
I had an archon 100. It sounded deep and amazing. I just couldn't get past the loop noise and the there was a nasal quality to the mids I didn't jive with.
