OK, I have 2 PRS 24fret guitars. One is a custom 24 and one is an Artist. The custom 24 has a wide/thin neck, low action and is an excellent guitar. I use it mainly for drop D tuned tunes in our sets. The artist was my #1 guitar for many years during the early 90's. Chunkier neck, low action and sounds great. I have mostly retired that one from live and rehearsal...some fret wear and its overall value to me being the reasons.
I also have a few Suhr guitars. My current #1 is a modern (mahogany body, vulcanized maple neck, ebony fretboard with SS frets, Aldrich pickups). Simply love this guitar, can't say enough about it. Tone for days!! I also have a standard (mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard with SS frets and HSH config with pull split on the tone control. Again, I can't say enough about how amazingly versatile and great sounding this guitar is. I have a couple other moderns, yet they are not currently in regular "live" use.
I use the modern for a hard rock/metal cover band and used the standard more when I was playing more "standard" rock and roll tunes. Both give me great tones with excellent options. Both have trem, the modern is double locking and the standard is not...both have NO tuning issues, they are dead on! Granted the PRS's don't have turnings issues even tho they are non-locking terms as well.
All I can say is the Suhr's and the PRS's are all great quality, great sounding guitars and to choose between them is no small feat. There are neck options for each. I have had my PRS guitars for a while and I keep them, they haven't been sold. That said, I do seem to keep buying Suhr guitars these days. I love the SS frets, the body style, feel of the necks, I could go on. The last few PRS guitars I played were at GC and they had worn strings and high action...didn't play well at all. I am sure a good set-up would have worked wonders, but I was disappointed nonetheless.
If you can play a Suhr, do it. If not, I bought my first one used, sight unseen from a RT brother and I have never looked back.
Sorry for the length, hope this helps...BTW, great playing on your vids.
