PRS S2 does Wood Library Tops?

Admittedly I’ve not fiollowed the S2 line but I guesss they’re all US parts and components now?

Last I knew they used the SE pickups and hardware but were USA bodies. Apparently that’s all changed. Found this fun on Reverb and they’re all listed as a run of Wood Library tops with ebony fretboards.

These look pretty awesome…

Yup, US pickups, electronics and parts. That is pretty cool they will do Wood Library runs for S2's. I have seen some special run CE's before, but only Core level (and quite expensive) wood libraries.

So is it safe to assume these are NOT veneer tops? These are listed at $2600 but the store says they for sure have some wiggle room.

Wood library isn't specific to top. It's just a limited run of 10 picked by a dealer with different colors and wood combinations not normally offered for order on a regular core. Some have upgraded tops but that's not the deciding factor on wood library

Ah ok. Got it. So it is entirely possible these are just veneer tops?

PRS points out the veneer on the SE import models on their product page.
S2 and CE models are solid maple tops. No veneers on Maryland made guitars.
You can actually see the figuring continue from the top onto the maple "binding" on the CEs.

It's a full maple cap but usually people assume it's a highly figured artist grade top on wood library. If I remember correctly you can do standard tops, 10 tops, or artist tops. It's all up to the dealer on how they spec them.

The wood library guitars are really just a dealer specific run of 10 core guitars with options that you and I can't order on our own. For example a custom 24 run could have an artist grade quilt top in jade green with a flame maple neck and a maple or Brazilian fret board. It might also have smoked hardware and different PRS pickups.

Gotcha. I’ve gotta say, these two tops in particular for an S2 run are phenomenal. Definitely the two standouts of the run, which is why I jumped on the red one. I’d say they could definitely be on Core models.

They gave me a killer deal and are holding the specific purple guy for a week after delivery as well in case I also want it.
