In case it isn't obvious:

it's a sensible alternative to peeps' being confronted with a "meaningless" list of sub-forum links upon first visit.

It makes sense to provide a description or two (there are two - one up-top and one to the right) of the forums and community. The direct links to articles, pre-described, provide a way for folks to dive straight in.

It's not essential for forums obviously, but it's nice to have without getting too fancy-schmancy. :dunno:

To be clear:

We've always had a home page, but it was a plain-Jane list of links to threads / articles at other sites owned by the same company.

Now it's "our own" and a night-and-day improvement IMHO.

On iOS I need the logo to take me back to the main forum page for navigation. Otherwise I have to use the drop down menu to select forum every single time I need to go backwards which is nonsense. RT is a forum above a homepage first and foremost.

I'll alert admin to this Brother M.

Never had a mobile 'phone so I'm afraid I can't be of immediate assistance.

On a desktop how do you get back to the list of forums?

On mobile the logo is the only easy way without diving into the menu drop down to the left after every single post.

You can’t use the back button when making posts or the site bugs out. If you’re using the logo to link to the main web page then give another link/logo at the very top for the main forum. I also use the logo to refresh the page for updates.

Another option is to land on the home page if you’re not logged in but if you’re logged in, the logo should default to the forum overview.

Had I not seen this post I’d otherwise personally reported this as a bug 🐛

I hear you bro' and have already reported your issue.

I use browser tabs for the main sub-forums or sections and open threads in separate windows.

This is how that area looks for me:

"Forum list" is obviously a drop-down menu as evidenced by its associated arrow.
The bold-type "Forums" link above it takes you to the main forum page where all subs are listed.

HTH

I really like the overly optimistic and cheery nature of the synopsis on various trending threads. Makes me wonder how such a write would have played out for some of the more colorful threads I've started in recent years. It'd be like expecting to see Bambi but getting a porno instead.
