Anybody have an opinion on the PT-50 watt head? Is there much difference in tone between that and the PT-100 watt head? (other than 50 watts!) I would imagine the headroom would be a little less.
Any opinions?
Thanks
Steve

I gotta say this part of rig talk has seemed kind of dead lol... my post was the only one for a good 24 hours lol

Seems so.... I was hoping to get some input from the guys at Suhr though.. Oh well!

Unfortunately they don't hit this forum that much. I wish they did. Ed, John, etc. all are great resources that much.

I'd probably just call them. That's the best way to get the answers you're looking for.

Having played the PT100...it just crushes. I know they are working on a redesigned PT50 that will be Suhr branded come NAMM.

I heard that.. and some other cool changes to both the Pt-50 and Pt-100.. midi is good!!
I am going to play a Pt-50 today and was just wondering how much different it is than the 100 watter.. Probably the typical differences. headroom, etc....

When is that Namm show?

I have played the PT100 ...Pete's actual touring one. I'd say...probably the same differences between a 100 and 50 watter would be correct.

NAMM show is in LA around Jan 15 weekend in 2010.

Cool.. Thanks Eric!!

I am thinking about making a switch from my Vh4.. That Pt-50 will have to sound pretty friggin good to beat the VH4 though..

Please use the phone or email if you need an answer quickly especially during Holidays and NAMM season
The PT50 is killer as a 50W and is actually how the PT was born as a 50W first. Cleans not quite as clean of course but also a little more give if you are not cranking.

I havent played the 50 watt. I would go with the 100 watter simply because the amp sounds so good at lower volumes, i like the extra oomph the 100 has. great amp.

Thanks guys!
I did play the 50 watt head. Very nice!! Now I have to decide what will be sold to fund one.

Which is why I always buy 100watters :)

What is the price difference between the 50 and 100 watter? Also, are the changes pretty significant regarding the redesigned pt50? Would it be worth holding off on a purchase? Thanks.

I think it's only around $100 difference between 50 and 100 watt.
I heard they were adding midi, that alone is enough reason to wait for the new model for me.

I'm interested in a PT100 or 50, but I think I'll wait for midi version.

Do the PT's have parallel loop? If so, is there a mix control on the front??

No parallel loop stock. I did ask John himself that...and he said it was probably something they could do in the amp... or Get a suhr mini mix...problem solved!! :)

Nah, that's four more 1/4" connectors, and two more lengths of wire to possibly fall out during transport and/or fail during a show. I'd much rather pay for the internal.

Suhr has solid state loop that is switchable between series/parallel and instrument/line level. Its not standard on PT-100 but is available as an option.
