Pulling Tubes?

Can I safely pull two power tubes on my 100w Diezel Einstein to run at 50w? I know some amps are fine with that and others can actually get damaged. If so, does it matter inner/outer tubes?

Yes you can pull tubes, you either have to pull 1 and 4 or 2 and 3. Honestly, I don't see the point. It doesn't reduce volume in a significant way, and only really affects the headroom of the amp.

+1 to what has been said. I won't notice any volume difference (it's only -3dB) just loose headroom. As Peter said once, that's what the master volume is for, playing a low levels. He explicitly advices NOT to use hotplates or similar or pulling tubes.

I've been using the master vol, but my tone is still fizzy unless I'm at least at band practice volumes. This amp is LOUD! I have a Soldano Decatone and a Marshall JCM800 and I don't think either of those are as loud as my Einstein. How would you suggest getting rid of the fizz at lower volumes? An OD pedal perhaps?

Presence knob? My Herbie can get a bit fizzy, especially since I have G12T-75s in my cab, and the presence knob can change from fat and smooth to teeth grinding fizz! :)
