Anyone tried one of these? Do they compare to Bogners? I heard a few guys make a switch from the 20th Shiva to the Event Horizon.

Anyone try one? There are lots of people on the Gear Page forum saying the PWE trounces the Bogners. I would love to play one!

Having owned 2 XTC Classics, a 101b, and Uberschall, 2 regular shivas and a 20th anniversary shiva I can chime in. I currently own a 50 watt PWE Event Horizon. I will not say that one is better than the other, but from a price point, the PWE is the better deal. Although the PWE does not have as many footswitchable options, it has all of the same versatility and covers the same tone territory as the XTC. They are both great amps.

+1 on the PWE GREAT amps, in the Marshall camp but has its own thing going, great cleans, duals masters great loop, built in attenuator if you need it, just a ballsy tonefull kick ass rock amp. To mmy ears is what i had hoped the SLO would have been. PWE is far less compressed than a Bogner.

If you like high end british tones, yet extremely versatile... try this amp, and then buy it! Better yet, check out the 3 channel EH3.

event horizon is going to be 3 channels now, the third channel . wow, am energized by this develpment.

You sure, a three channel one is in the works? Well, I am finding I never need more than a 2 channel amp and a few knobs. any more over complicates things. Just like with my 20th Shiva and two channels I can play whatever I want and it sounds great at home or with the band. I talked to Stu at Fat Sound guitars and he recommended the EH big time.

Just picked up a black, mint condition Event Horizon. Should be here in a week or two.

Finally got the EH...GREAT amp! Different than the Shiva.

Played it this weekend...brought my SLO into Fatsound so Stu could A/B it to the 3 channel PWE...they also covered a LOT of the same ground without a doubt...and while I did like my SLO better, it sure would be nice to have that foot switchable crunch channel like hte new EH vice having to switch a toggle on the faceplate....also the 3rd channel has its own eq. Its the one thing I truly miss on the old 101b I had years ago too....

How about a little review and some differences between the PWE and 20th Shiva!

Well, the PWE Event Horizon...I wasn't sure how I would like it. However, i thikn it is one of the most amazing amps I have ever played or owned. I have played a lot of Marshalls, Egnaters, Bogners, Soldanos, a Diezel, Splawns, H&K, Fryette...and
I think this is my favorite for am old school Marshall tone all the way up to hot rodded Marshall! This amp is a keeper. Really full and rich, a joy to solo on. The best amp I have owned for nailing classic rock other than my Shiva. It Kills for Rush, Aerosmith, Metallica, VH, Led Zep, Alice in Chains, etc. EH is more raw and punchy

My 20th Bogner with EL34s is darker, a little creamier, more modern. More refined.

That is why I like having both......they really are apples to oranges.

I have my eye on a Splawn Streetrod.

In the end it is so personal. Some guys love Soldanos, I don;t like Soldanos at all.....some guys hate Slpawns...I love Splawns. They are flavors of icecream and we all know what we like. :)

How's the clean channel on the EH? Is it a Fender clean or Marshall? Can you get some slight break up on it? On the new 3 channel, what's the difference between channel 2 and 3?

Ted made two different channels...Fender and Marshall. If you get one with the Marshall clean, you are set.

I just wanted ro give an update on what a great amp this is. So Rich, full, muscular, punchy as hell, and versatile as all get out!
I have a 2010 two channel model with a vintage and modern switch which gives me anything I want! Classic rock, grunge, 80s rock, 90s rock, Rush, Led Zep, Alice in Chains, Tool, Metallica, Creed, punk and alt rock. Got it all. And the gain channel is responsive enough and cleans up enough that I rarely switch to the clean channel. I just roll back volume.
Reminds me of a better Soldano or XTC.

Got any pics of this latest acquisition?? Love to see it...

I think my ears suck, LOL. I hear people say this amp has good high mids or this amp has good low mids. I just know if I like the sound of an amp or not. Bogner Shiva, PWE Event Horizon and Splawn Street Rod should keep me satisfied for a long time. Maybe I still need something in my collection with more low mids, LOL. Not that I could tell. Haha.
Either way, the PWE sounds about perfect!

For me personally, I keep the Hyperon and Tachyon off since this way the amp sounds more open, less gainy and warmer. The amp has enough gain without it.
