Is the pickup wired in series or parallel with the red and white wires soldered together?

It's in standard humbucker mode, so it would be in series.

Same as Duncan, Red and White together and not connected to anything else, Black is hot and Green and drain wire are ground.
When Red/white go to ground the forward coil is the active one

As I learned when installing the Aldrich pickups in my Les Paul (though all Suhr pickups are the same) the bobbins are colour coded like this:

Bridge Pickup:
Screws = Green (gnd) to Red
Slugs = White to Black (hot)
(so if you follow the wiring diagram for coil tapping, you'll get the inner coil (slugs) not the coil closest to the bridge (screws) - which probably sounds too thin, I'm guessing...)

Neck Pickup is different - remember to orient the bobbin with the screws towards the fingerboard:
Slugs = Green (gnd) to Red
Screws = White to Black (hot)
(so coil tapping this pickup will give you the outermost (screws) coil, as you'd want)

Correct, I personally don't care for the Bridge coil as the active single coil, too nasal and thin.
You can get there too by changing the wiring though
White and bare drain to ground
Red to hot
Green and Black together, when they go to ground you will have the bridge side coil
