Hi guys, so I am really not digging the tone and it is due to the speakers. I am pretty sure the are eminence speakers in my Front loaded. Can any one tell if they are like quick swap connectors like EMG's? A friend on the ESP board mentioned that, or is the soldering involved. I just ask as I suck a soldering and don;t want to make any mistakes and wonder if I should just have a shop do it, but if they are quick connects that I am ordering 4 V 30's right away. :) Plus I really don;t feel like lugging that thing down my narrow hallways three flights and I have a small 2 door 07 accord so fitting it in the back sit is phail. :D Thanks guys!

Sean,

What exactly don't you like about your current cabinet/speakers?

It is really weird with the new VH4 I just got, or when I use the Vh4S and turn down the rear loaded side, the tone just sounds..........well almost like a line 6 modeling amp for some reason. Not like the rearloaded ones with V 30's just sounds so alive, punchy, articulate, lot's of tight bottom end. I really like the tone out of those. What made me want a front loaded one, was off a recommendation of a friend on the ESP board who got one and loved it but I think his had v 30's.

I do recall when I ordered it, the ones with V 30's were back ordered and he piched me that these speakers were just fine and I think are eminence. I need to open up the back to confrim, just going on what the dealer told me.

Thanks man!

Sean,

please send me an email to

peterdiezel (at) diezelamplification.com

It´s urgent ;)

I'd really open the back of the cab & see what the speakers are before ordering things. I personally tried front loaded cabs & didn't like them, the sound kind of harsh to me.

Hi guys, Peter email sent.

NBarts, yeah I plan to do just that is open it up and get an exact picture and model number of the speakers anyhoo and check out all the connectors etc.

Now I am on a quest to find a good beater 2x12 horizontal cab. As looks like by my analysis   My band should be ready to gig in a few weeks and we plan to go into the studio to make an EP. So I only have a little 07 accord, and need a small cab that I can through in my back seat, the Vh4 head, 2 guitars and mt GT-10. Maybe a boogie 2x12 but I felt they were kinda boomy with my VH4S, but I will look around. Any reccomendations for a 2x12 beater that will still sound good? Maybe a Marshall 2x12 with v 30's? Does marshall make them with v 30's? Thanks guys

Bogner o.s 2x12 w/v30. if it is boomy try lowering the bass and or deep. that what you have a bass player for anyway. ;)
I just got one of these and it is taking a little getting used to, but it sounds pretty dam good. not nearly as directional as the boogie cabs.
I played an outside gig w/ it last weekend w/ my vh4 and it really worked well, totally kept up w/ my boogie 4 x 12.
It is not very small though, they do make a std size 2 x 12 as well.
The deizel cabs are just not readily available around here so i went w/ a bogner. I think they are or were made by the same company for both Bogner and Diezel here in the states

Hmmm...an Orange 2x12 might be cool.... Little bigger than the Boogie 2x12 but smaller than the Bogner OS 2x12. You've probably looked into them already, but they've also got V30s and the wood construction is nice and THICK!

Good luck.

Thanks guys! What is your opinion of Marshall cabs? GC has em cheap, but I am sensing cheap = poor tone quality?? :D

try emperor cabs out of chicago. all custom built to your own specs (including dimensions, ports, etc.). top quality 36ply marine grade birch. dovetail joints (no other cabs have this). no tolex, just beautiful stain and finish to the color of your choice. choose your grill cloth as well. superior to and still cheaper than most other cabs. get it now b/c the price will rise in the future. they'll make vertical and horizontal 2x12s. i like the 6x12s myself.

splawn cabs also are custom built. almost the same specs and options as emperor, but thier's are tolexed (your choice grill, color, and piping of course).

i've owned diezel, bogner, splawn, emperor, marshall, mesa, orange, rivera, genz-benz, vader, vht, krank, sunn, electric, etc. cabs. emperor and splawns are the best. of course, i haven't played the new diezels, but i will when they hit the states.

please everyone, check out emperor and splawn.

i'll post some big stage pics soon with more emphasis on the cabs...
this was a small place in New Orleans, but we packed it pretty well. incidentally, we're only 2 guitars and drums. those are bass rigs (ampeg, '74 sunn model T) that we run with polyphonic octave generators. trust me, you don't miss the bass...
emperor 4x12s on the right, splawn 4x12 w/ genz benz gflex 2x12 on left

Dude, just order all available cabs, test them for five minutes, keep the one you like, sell the rest on ebay, then sell the one you liked, re-buy all of them, and keep going like this...wait...

On a serious note: Of course you need to solder...it's not rocket-science...

yeah, i feel like i've done that. and soldering is easy. just use a good iron with good solder and practice until you get it right... try not to burn the wires.

You are bursting with fruit flavor Scott. That is getting old as lucky13 on the ESP boards comments :gethim:

Dude, after that +/- question from you, AFTER you sold the Herbert saying it wasn't much different from the VH4, you ought to be able to take some slack...

I am. :D Am I not allowed to respond?  What can I say I love my hot rodded VH4 and VH4S? and after having the Herbert for like 2 months, just was not my bag. I can't go into any store and try a herbert here in NYC.

But you haven't seen half of what the Herbert can do if you haven't tried the +/- switch man...that's the "beef" I'm having with your comments. Nothing personal... :)

Right, but besides that switch, that I need 4 channels for what I do with my band, that I prefer 6 FX loops (4 single and 2 global), and just overall the sound of em both fit my band and the tones I need. Nothing personal scott. :)

See? That's what I mean: How can you say that about the tone when you don't even know what the Herbert sounds like in the +/- position you didn't use?

Also, channel inserts aren't loops per say...so actually the Herbert has more loops...

But it's all good man...

guys, there is a weird kind of hatelove going on between you. :D
