Can someone tell me if the rhyhtm channel on the UL is as heavy as the green channel on the CL? I played both today and to me the CL green channel was heavier then the ULs rhyhtm channel. Just checking to make sure something was broken...

Also what is the SIG X?????????

I am thinking of going for a CL but would love a little more saturation and a clean channel. I guess a boost would help a bit...

Also does anyone apart from myself think think the CL/UL lead tone is ..... thin....

I don't have enough time on an UL or CL to give say on which is heavier.

The Sig X__ though is going to be AMAZING. It is going to allow for some more saturation than previous VHTs for those who don't like the extreme dryness. I'll just post the spec list...

ØThree independent channels with separate tone controls.

ØChannel PRE EQ VOICING switch for each channel allowing custom tailored tone shaping.

ØExclusive VHT GAIN I/GAIN II Voicing and Overdrive configuration with Channel Assignable, Footswitchable Gain Boost.

ØMORE/LESS MODE for each High-Gain channel to select 3 or 4 Tube Gain stages.

ØNew POWER SHIFTTM feature takes VHT's exclusive Enhance Mode Technology to a new level of flexibility, allowing channel assignable Tube/SS Rectifier and 100W/60W output power selection with a deceptively simple, channel assignable user interface.

ØNew SIDEBANDTM MODE gives you the choice of fast, focused power amp response or increased power supply lag and “Ghost Note” harmonics for rich, expressive power amp response at any playing volume.

ØTwo dedicated sets of VHT exclusive Depth and Presence controls, one set for the Clean channels and one set for the high gain channels.

ØFootswitchable True-Bypass, Series/Parallel Effects Loop with level controls.

ØTrue 100 Watt RMS Output power from a pair of Premium Matched KT88 Power Tubes.
The PITTBULL SIG: XTM delivers all of the most popular and innovative features of the PITTBULL line along with a healthy dose of DELIVERANCE preamp stage saturation and low-end mojo. The all-new SIG: X front panel layout puts trademark VHT sound, power and flexibility in an intuitive and attractive looking format.

Here are some pics of the proto-type of the Sig X. It is due to start shipping real soon. I can't wait until mine arrives.

All those toggles and power amp options remind me of a Mesa big time

They say the SIG X_____ should be out in stores by April 2007...

I owned a 50cl and a Ul and did many A/B comparisons. I think the difference you hear is the power tube difference. The KT88's in the UL really give that amp a very clean sounding distortion, not fizzy like a 5150 or Mesa. I swapped out the KT88's with EL34's on my UL and it turned it into a very different sounding amp, in a good way. Some people claim EL34's can't be used in a UL only the CLX because of the power section. I ran EL34's for five years in my UL with no trouble. After swapping tubes the amps sounded very similair, but there was still a slight difference which I assume is from the bigger transformer on the UL.

Yeah Keith, but that seems to be the way to do it nowadays. Everyone from Peavey, to Cameron, to VHT always announce these new amps, then don't end up releasing them to the stores for a year or so. Peavey did that with the Triple XXX and others and we all know the Cameron/VHT stuff. I don't get it.

A few makers seem to hold onto the announcement until it's almost ready, but not most. I don't get it either.

Chris

Yep... Me neither, Chris!
