Quick question on Einstein!

Really quick let me introduce myself I joined the forums just recently and I'm hopefully getting a Diezel Einstein in the very near future - assuming fedex doesn't lose it or mangle it in the process *knock on wood* and have a quick question. My name is Dallas and I'm from the Tampa Bay Area in Florida - long time guitar player and on and on... anyway on to the question!

Currently I'm using a Randall RM100 type head with a pair of both EL34's and 6L6's - in this particular head the inner power tubes basically dominate the character of the power section, as far as feel and general sound - while the outside ones seem to basically color and enhance the inner tubes.

Is the Diezel the same way where there is a noticeable change in behavior and sound between having the same 4 tubes but in different positions inside and out - and does the inside pair have the largest influence on the sound?

So am I the only one wacked enough to mess with this kind of stuff?
 
I guess there have already been several people who used mixed tubes in their Einis but I never heard that it makes a difference which tube is the inner and which is the outer pair :confused:
 
not really, but most of us hate 6L6-tubes :D

jokes aside - i messed around with different tubes a little only, but havent checked if their position also makes changes. have to try it yet.
 
Yea, it makes a very significant difference in my current amp and for the record I also prefer EL34's.

I'm in the minority that actually lovs 6L6s

I was very happy with EL34 in my Einstein and just a few weeks ago I put some 6L6s andMAN!! I don't think I'm going back to EL34 in the Einstein for a while.

And once the VH4 comes back from Peters hands I'm installing 6L6 in it to hear the dif.
 
Sweetness - I'll be tweaking it a lot for sure! Let's hope fed ex gets it here before I have to go into work at 2 tomorrow, with my luck they will only show up just before practice :(
