I have acquired a '05 Diezel VH4 and its already proving to be a problem child?....think it was abused by its last parent? (hopefully not molested).

Question i have... Does your VH4 remember the last channel it was on after its been turned off?
i can't remember if my other VH4 did this? pretty sure they remembered the channel etc  (my others were 08's, whether that makes any difference?)
When turned on it is not on any channel until one is selected.

What seems to be the problem with it?
My 98 doesn't always is on channel 3 when I turn it on even if I was on channel 4 before I shut it down.

Some do remember what channel they were last set on and some do not. I bet Mr. Diezel can get you a quick easy fix when he gets back from holiday. No worries I think.

Hey Jonl..
Hey Moosehead..
Yeah..Its been giving me shit all day, when it arrived, i plugged it in then fuses went... replaced those with spares i keep handy... then pre-amps tubes were dying hard (3 dead/microphonic etc) :( and when i replaced them with some spares, then i hear two power tubes go and LEDS lit up :aww: ... replaced those, (got whole new fresh glass pres & tubes ordered) got it up and running sounding pretty good now even with spare tubes, but i noticed that it doesn't have like a default channel to be on when powered on or remember the last channel it was on prior to being turn off? Also just noticed the midi columbus isn't able to change anything?

Deffinately a problem child...

We're the tubes you had problems with shipped with the amp?
So now the tubes aren't causing issues since you have replaced them I would say that issue is cleared.
The default channel issue, is probably programmable.
Midi, no effing clue hahaha

Yeah.. tubes were the ones shipped... was already going to order new anyways but hadn't figured that the shipped tubes would fail that soon considering they are supposedly a few months old... but then again the delivery companies these days are rough handlers...

Sounds wise i got no problems now.. will sound a touch better in a few days when all new glass get here.
Just the channel thing and figuring out whats up with the midi.....

Think i got too use to my last VH4 being a good little child.....

The tube issues are not the fault of the amp. Get new glass in there and the amp should be good.

As for the MIDI, you probably need to program the Columbus. No big deal.

Just adding that the new one I recently purchased does remember the last channel.

When playing a VH4... it always feels like a plan coming together :D

She is behaving her self today...

There was a 2005 model making its way around N. America about 4 or 5 years ago, maybe less. I got a number of related emails/PMs from various forums about this fuct up VH4. Where'd you get this one and what's the S/N ??

Just wondering if you ended up getting the bastard red headed stepchild.

Oh shit balls... would i be THAT unlucky?

This apparently it came from US and changed to UK voltage etc but theres no tick on the voltage boxes on the rear panel.. so who knows where it was originally destined/Continented for? I'll have to check the S/N later.
She was throwing her toys outta the pram this morning....
