Ok, to make a long story short...this thing kills any other amp I've ever played or owned. It's way tighter, clearer, and punches way harder than my 3ch. Recto. I no longer need a boost pedal. My OD9 and OD808 have been collecting dust since I took this thing home. The Gain and Presence are much more useable and there's none of that fizz that the 3ch. has. I've played it through my Mesa Traditional cab w/V30's and my Marshall 1960B w/V30's & 75's and it sounds great though both of them.

I love how simple my setup has become. I'm running an ISP Decimator in front of the amp (when I'm playing with the band) and I run a tuner from the slave out with everything plugged into a Furman PL8II. I just open up the rack case, plug in, and I'm ready to go! Now lets get down to business.....

Share some settings. :) BTW, mine sounds crushing with a boost. 8)

Nice!!!

Man thats a gorgeous LP on the left, what kind is it?

So why are the ractifiers the most sought after mesa rectifier amps, aside from looking killer in a rack?

I assume there are circuit changes in the rack models compared to some of the heads or can you get the same thing in an amp head model if you find the right year?

That last pic looks soooo sweet. I can just feel the tone. 8)

I think a lot of it has to do with how they routed the wiring on the rackmounts. I keep telling people they sound better, and I always have some joker with a new three channel pipe up about how it can't sound better than his.

I look at them like this:

Ractifier>early two channel head>two channel head>three channel heads

I had one of the very early (SN was in the 200s) head with reverse chassis. Sounded awesome! But the two ractifiers I had smoked it. One was earlier without the fan, one was later. Both were great amps, but the fx loop still sucked ass. If I was running a wet/dry setup, I might think about it, but damn that's a lot of gear to tote to a gig.

Congrats man, looks great! What's that now, 5 or 6 racktifiers on rig talk?

Pete, were your loops serial or parallel on the racktifiers?

parallel. had this 'woosh' noise when I ran effects in it, pissed me off mightily. Of course, I heard about a simple mod AFTER I got rid of the second one... if I could have had a loop that worked, I'd have kept at least one of them. Awesome amps!

Ummm, I think this almost qualifies for the NWS section... Damn! That's hot.

Ahhhhhhhh that sucks. I wonder when they switched to parallel loops. The one I have is serial.

Just my luck - I find TWO of these amps, and both of em have the parallel. DAMMIT! How well does the series loop work?

Reverse chassis?

Can you elaborate on the tonal differences between the Rack one and early Recto? I heard there were alot of revisons to the early ones so maybe yours wasn't the best one?

My serial # was in the low 200s, it had a chrome chassis with black treadplate. I thought it was the best sounding amp ever until I heard a ractifier. :) Difference to me is that the ractifiers have a little more low end, but it's tight. More clarity, less fizz. As you go into the 2 channel heads, they get looser and less clear, and buzzy in the three channels. Just my opinion.

Thanks guys. :D

I'm at work so I'll have to get back to you on the settings. It definitely sounds good with a boost but I like to keep things simple so if I don't need I probably won't use it.

damn, that looks sweet! how much one o those run ya?

Thanks. I paid $1200 for it.

Thanks. It's just a regular Standard in Honeyburst.
