Radial JDX vs. Palmer PDI09....any opinions? Trying to get away from cab mics onstage. I have a Palmer and sounds pretty good. Need to get another and was wondering about the Radial product. FWIW, I can't tell too much difference in mic vs. DI for the most part plus they seem to make the mix a bit cleaner and this is evident in IEM's.

hey Steve, I have had them all (or bought and returned them). To me my Palmer has added upper mids compared to my Bogner/Mesa V30 cabs and a slightly lighter bottom end. The Radial is the closest and what I use, a little shy on the top end (presence) but really big sounding and fatter than the Palmer in my opinion. It is the one I use live now. Believe it or not by old Red Box II which I have used for years is pretty close, not as much bottom but a littler brighter. The Red Box Pro sounds terrible, way too much top and I sent that one back. The Radial in my opinion is the best out there right now. Your mileage may vary. I use several soundmen so this give me a consistent and clear sound in the mix.

OK, appreciate that. I don't mind touching it up a bit with the mixer, just wanted the basic tone to be there. Believe I will give the Radial a spin.

Interesting, I'll have to try one. I really like my Palmer, but for the prices these things cost, it makes sense to give the Radial a try too.
