Hey guys,

Any experience with USA made Randall R412 cabs?
I found one in mind shape, speaker less and it looks gorgeous - $350.
Are they well built and good sounding?
I bought en looking to get a used Mesa, Marshall, Orange, etc. Would love another Bogner, Splawn or Stone Age but money is tight.

I had one for about a week and returned it. Found it at my local GC for like $375 or something. Wasn't bad at all for an American made 4x12 with V30's.

Wanted to love it just based on the deal I got it for, but in the end I thought it was just a bit too boxy and dull sounding. Even with the v30s it was a bit dark with each amp I played through it. If that's your thing and you have speakers for it, then 350 ain't bad. Seemed built pretty solid, so no complaints about the build quality.

Interesting....

What is your reference. What other cabs do you own or have played?
My cabs are a Splawn straight 412, Bogner 212OS and Stone Age 212OS.

Thanks so much for the input!

I know you are looking for others to have experience, but that cab is unloaded for 350, with 180 shipping. I paid half that with 4 v30s in it. I have an unloaded slant randall 4x12 in my garage that you can have for free, bud.

Thanks.
The guy lives an hour from me so I was going to drive to his shop this weekend.
I will not pay for a cab to be shipped.

I talked to a few guys who have studios outside Philly and they say the USA top shelf Randall cabs easily hang with Mesa, Bogner, Marshall, etc. Only thr high end USA. Models though.

That said, they don't hold value and unfortunately we live in a world where you have to consider that in case I ever want to unload.

So I'm sticking with Bogner, Mesa, etc.

Unfortunately all the money is ney I had saved up for some gear, I ended up having to spend on medical bills.
I should sill be able to swing a decent cab.

Some country we live in huh. What a joke.
I have a USA Randall XL 4x12 cab and a Mesa OS 4x12, both loaded with v30s. The Mesa is a little more focused but I love them both and the Randall is surprisingly excellent quality. But I did also buy the XL cab for $350 dollars WITH the v30s

High end Randall cabs are great. They're usually cheap on the used market, have good speakers, fantastic parts and construction quality.

That being said, I wouldn't in a million, billion years, pay $350 for an unloaded Randall cab of any caliber. $350 is what that cab should sell for used, WITH 4 good Celestion speakers.

Unless you want to overpay just to have it, hard pass.

Thanks for the info and feedback. I appreciate it.

I don't think I'll get it because even though it's USA built and high end - even the wiring harness is top shelf. That said, Randall lacks the name recognition of some other brands, so it would be tough if I ever needed to sell.
I even found a mint condition Rivera locally for $450 loaded with Celestions. Rivera I trust a lot, but it's a bit ugly with this shiny silver grill cloth. If it were black, I might have grabbed it.
The Rivera I found is a K412T.
This is one on the Guitar Center site -

I guess my point is I just can't imagine paying 350 for that unloaded cab. I hope you talk him down to like $100 bucks at least.
I get it! Thanks!
I just feel I'm taking a risk as reviews are so mixed with Randall cabs?!
Thank you!

Isn't the Randall XL, an import? Not sure.
I know this one is the R412.

That said, I found this Rivera K412T that is slant front like a 1960a but has a silver front.
I have a straight front Splawn, so I wanted this cab to be slant top or tilt baffle.
That Rivera is sort of ugly but $450 local pickup for a USA River with V30s?

Great points and that was what I was getting to when I said for that price, I'm better off just getting a used Mesa or Bogner with speakers.
I can ask the guy if he'd do $200, or move on.
Not sure he will budge.
Hell, that Rivera I found locally is loaded with Celestion for $100 more.

In. A perfect world, I'd want a Bogner, Mesa, Engl, Fort in, Splawn, etc....
Maybe I hold out.

It is easy enough to replace grill cloth?
This Rivera seems great, except the silver grill. :)

my randall cab is xl, and honestly i would put it up against anything. I think most of it is how it was with v30s, the slant gave it a room filling pleasant sound. I am just a snob and so i keep it in the garage.. I should just throw some greenies in it and put it on top of the mills

Also, I think that rivera would be perfect. Seems like a fair price, especially from getting it from gc. I would jump

The guitar center one would require shipping.
I found a mint Rivera locally for $450 and thr guy is close by.
Its ugly as hell though!
I'd have to replace the grill with black, but it would lose resale value.

I bet it's great but this dude wants $350..
I have a straight cab, and would be nice to have a slant top or tilt baffle.
