ok I've had it for about 2 weeks and with my track record the honeymoon is officially over.

First things first....This thing is HEAVY!!!! 70lbs or so....DAMN!!! thank God Randall had enough forethought to add side handles.

Anyways, on to the good stuff.

This thing kicks all sorts of ass. The modules all sound great, plus mods available for them, possibilities are endless. I thought going into it, it would be a glorified Pod...not so. Every module is it's own preamp, and feels EXACTLY like a regular integrated amplifier.

The modules I have or have played:

Modern: Sounds like what I wanted my Recto to sound like, but a little smoother. Killer heavy modern tone.

SL+: well I thought I was gonna get rid of this one, cause It just lacked enough gain, well I took it to rehearsal and cranked it up. NICE! plenty of cutting mids, and enough gain. not too much but just right (just like the poridge)

Clean: It's just that Clean......sound killer.

1086: I'll let you know on this one, I'm still working on it. :D

Ultra: on its way.

I love the User Bias, thats worth its weight in gold, bad tube? no problem, tube change? no problem. Different tubes? no problem.

This is a great amp for those of you who havent tried one yet, dont over look it because of the Randall logo, remember Bruce Almighty designed this baby.

I give it 4 1/2 stars (out of 5)definetely.... I can wait to have Bruce mod it to accept his 2 channel modules as well.....Man this thing is just alot of fun.

ive been thinging about those Randalls

ive played them solidstate amps through my childhood
and i just loved them i made my move with the Blue voodoo
half stack 2 weeks to early thats when i saw the Add's come out

i tried to take it back
but that dident work  ive still got some money comeing for christmas so i may just order the full set of Modules
with the AMP and PowerAmp

+ im still going to have enough for that Pearce Solidstate preamp ;)

You'll like it, man are they versitile.....and sound GREAT!!!

I want a Pearce too..... :D

does the amp come with modules when you buy one, or do i have to buy the head and the modules separately?

You can buy it either way. There are a couple (I think 2) different options for it to come loaded. I am talking new here.

I think most buy it unloaded an buy the modules seperate so they can get what they want.

FWIW, it is best to buy these things on the used market. For whatever reason they do not hold their value very well and you can get some good deals on amps with modules.

Hey Mike. If you get a chance, check out a blackface for the clean module. I like it TONS more than the clean module. In fact, I don't care for the clean module much at all. Pretty sterile if you ask me.

For high gain, my favorite Randall modules are:

1086...incredible flexibility!
Ultra XL...very similar to the Ultra but with a bit more mids. Still very capabl;e of Dimes tone if you want, but with more flexibility
Recto (cap modded to tighten it up).

I also really like the Plexi with a boost. You can do 80's thrash tones all day with that module

Hear great things about the Brahma module, but haven't tried one yet. Was not really a fan of the XTC ot Mr Scary modules I had

awesome. how much is the head unloaded, and how much with?

List?

I think:

Loaded $1599

Unloaded $1059

I think.

Nicccce...I've been gassing for one of those. Any chance of getting some clips of the modern module up??

Hey guys, how convincing would the blackface or plexi models be at getting a Hendrix/Plankton tone w/ a strat in your opinion?
