Can you import midi files into it? Say for instance I have a midi file of drums I wrote out, can I import those files and ezdrummer uses it's own sounds/samples to play the drums? Is that too crazy to understand?

I have a random answer.

Does EZDrummer have a built in MIDI editor or does it rely on host software for triggering?

Yes, absolutely. There can be a problem if the midi notes aren't corresponding to the same pieces of the drum kit though. I had to change some of my previously written midi files to get it to work right.

It does not have a built in midi editor, but you can import & play a midi file with it(read only mode, if you will) or you can use the host software.

I think they also have a free app for ezdrummer called ezplayer which is used for midi as well.... may be wrong.

I don't have EZdrummer, but you can almost be sure that you will have to alter the mappings so that you are hearing what you want to be hearing.

Typically, you can assign a drum mapping so instead of seeing notes in your midi , you see actual drum names such as snare, kick etc...
The GM or General Midi if used as the input should work across drum applications. I had issues with DKFHS where they use a proprietary mapping. When I used DKFHS to program some drums and I used another program to run it, my snare became a tom hit :aww:

In the case of guitar pro, you should be fine, it maps to General Midi (I tried it).
