Hey guys!

New member here so be gentle! I picked up a Rebel 30 head after hearing a lot about them and demoing several myself, amazing amp with so much variety in tone. I changed all the tubes in the amp because I have a weird thing about stock tubes, (silly I know) However, I am aware that the stock tubes are debated quite heavily anyway with this amp.

So anyway to my problem, after changing the tubes and putting the covers back on the preamp tubes, I can't get one to stay on! It always pops right off? I've never experienced this before, it can sometimes stay on for a day then just pop out, which is obviously not cool. There is also a very distinct rattle when playing an A, with a slight rattle at Ab or Bb, around that frequency.

Should I just take it to an amp tech to give it a going over or can I fix this myself?

Any replies would be greatly appreciated!

I'm curious about the answer here- This happens on my Renegade! Maybe we don't need the things?

Your amp still has the rubber o-rings on the tube shields, you've not lost one......or......it could be that the rubber o-rings are sticking on the chassis, if you put a very very very small amount of Vaseline in the palm of your hand then rub the o-ring you will find that your tube shields slip on with very little pressure. "I have just read that back and do realise that it reads like a line from 50 shades of grey...LOL". Also swop the shields then you can see if it's a shield that has worn a bit. Whilst your at it you can also number the shields with a marker pen then you'll always know which tube is which if you need to change one fast.

I almost always take the shields off. Never seemed to notice any difference or had any problems.

Good things to know. I can try vaseline, swapping them, or just getting rid of them.
