bought these really expensive schaller davinci tuners because their look.

My review (for anyone considering these)

PROS:
Looks

CONS:
*Price
*They were a bitch to install lined up correctly
*Difficult to turn
*Difficult to tune.. Lots of "backlash" or "slop" in the gears where you have to go flat and back up. Most tuners you have to go flat and back up to pitch but these you seem to have to go further than usual for some reason..

I definitely will not buy these again.. The only reason I'm not switching them yet is because it's on one of my strats with a FR so the only action they really get is tuning the guitar after new strings. So I can live with their terrible function since they look nice and match the bridge...

Anyone else experience same?

if it doesn't work well, I wouldn't use it.

hipshot tuners are the best! I also like the gotoh delta 510 series with the high ratio.

..because
A) can't return them, they were near impossible to find new from an authorized dealer
B) since its on a FR guitar, the only time you use them is to get the general tuning before you lock down the nut
C) already drilled the holes for these tuners into back of neck

Since its on a FR guitar I will live with them but if it was on a traditional bridge guitar they would drive me to not use them

They are interesting looking, that's for sure. Sad to hear they aren't working out for you. It almost sounds like you got a dud set of tuners though? I can't believe the product would be designed to operate like this. I would be contacting the Schaller if I were you. Doesn't seem right to me, at all.

I have to admit I looked at these tuners when they came out for one of my Floyd equipped guitars simply because they are so pretty. Glad to know they aren't so great, helps me justify not buying them now. You would think they would be adjustable so you could tighten them up as they wore in/out. But they are pretty as all get-out.

Let's revive this one. I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a set of these until I saw this review, and I can't find any others. I have a new Musikraft neck coming and figure I might as well dump more money into this project to make it look perfect. Any more opinions on these tuners? They sure look cool.

Get the ones that Music Man uses on their guitars.

I have four EBMM guitars and those Schallers were what I was planning on getting until I saw these Da Vincis. Well, I don't want the pearloid buttons for this guitar. But I really find it hard to believe Schaller would put out a product that didn't work great. Why are there no other reviews on these? They've been out for around 10 years now.
