I have a Rebel 20, that according to the serial number was built last July and already has a constant, loud 60 cycle hum that shouldn't be there. It starts about 15 seconds after powering up and turning on and is constant regardless of what is turned up or on or off. With the tubes out, two at a time, it's still there. It must be something in the power supply, right? Anyone else have this issue?

What's the warranty situation on this? It was purchased used from GC in April. Does Egnater stand behind fixing or replacing it?

Never had this problem, but Egnater has always been there for me with any issues I have had.

Since you are out of GC's 30-day return policy (I assume) I would get directly in touch with Egnater. Good possibility Jeff will jump in on this thread. I'm sure they will fix it or replace it for you.

Have you tried plugging it in to a different outlet in a different room? Might be coming from something external- lights, appliances, whatever.

Of course I tried plugging it in other places, please give me a little more credit. Believe me it's not external. I hope that someone does contact me because it's definitely defective and less than a year old.

Also, where can a schematic be found for this amp? There is none in the owners manual and I haven't found one online. Is there a link to a PDF of the schematic someplace? Thanks.

I'm totally relaxed. Maybe it's bothering you though?

Darklight, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

I hope your amp problem gets resolved soon.

Not me. It just seems you took the suggestion a little personally. I mean, you posted here looking for help, then someone gives you some advice and you seemed a bit offended by it. Whatever. Good luck getting your amp fixed.

See DL? More honey. Less vinegar.
It's all good gentlemen. Thanks for your concerns and well wishes.

Thanks to the fine folks at Egnater, progress is being made toward the ultimate goal.

My Rebel was humming like CRAZY the other day, I thought it was the power in my place, or flurescent lights or something.

Turned out it was the surge protector 4way I was using =/ Anyone know why?

Keep us posted about the solution, I'm having the same problem. When I turn it on I get a loud hum and no matter where you turn the volume, you get sound, even with the volume all the way off. I figured one of the tubes had gone microphonic so I ordered a complete set today. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

GC has a demo for the Monster super duper power surge protectors. they compare a Cheap 4 way strip with their product.

te 4 way hummed like crazy and the monster was clean.

$150.00 bucks later I never have a prob but I am sure you can get away cheaper. i just wanted to be done with it especially with more sensitive Tube gear.

here re some great vids full of grounding, hum loop, shielding info etc.
