So I have this amp and I love it. But a few days ago something weird started. The amp has developed this issue of where the sound starts to get real fizzy then has a dramatic volume drop. When the volume drops you can barely hear it and its just a faint garbled fizzy sound. The strange part is if I flip the stand by switch on then off the amp works fine again. It might work all day no issues, but then sometime it will do this three or four times in an hour???? Any ideas? Is this a tube issue or something more involved? Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I meant to post that the 6v6/EL85 dial has no affect on the issue that i have noticed.

Sounds like it could be a tube issue. Maybe a power tube. Does it make the funny sounds just when one of the sets of power tubes is dialed in? Like on just the 6V6 side or the EL84 side. If it only does it with one of the sets of power tubes then you'll know which set of tubes are bad. If it does it regardless of which power tubes are dialed in, then it might be a preamp tube.

Power tubes are usually replaced in sets.

Did you post this on 7string also? I answered you over there, in case you haven't seen it yet.

Aha! - I've got to remember that you can plug into the effects return to bypass the preamp section. Cool!!
