Rebel 20 - Module?

That's my question. Is there any chance this could be made into a module? I dig the Rebel 20's sound a lot and none of the current modules really do the Rebel 20 justice. If this was available in a module, I'd be picking up quickly. I guess this is a question for Bruce/Ian...is there any chance this will become a reality? Could any of the currently modules be modified to represent the Rebel 20?

Most modules are based on Marshall, Vox and Fender circuits. Modeling their own amp might be a stretch.

It is conceivable to make a module sound close to a Rebel, however it's not something we are currently working on. An SL2 would probably be the best candidate for modding, but it would be an extensive amount of work getting them to sound the same. Maybe a job for one of the many great module modifiers out there?

Then you are getting into territory where you could just pick up a Rebel head for the same $$.

Well since Ian is on the thread I assume he'll be looking in on this one a bit. So I'll toss this one off into the air for discussion not knowing whether it's a sore subject or not and just respect the answer we get form the Egnater family.

Jeff Hiligan was very popular for his mods on the modules when he worked at Egnater. Friedman does mods but they are mostly based on his sounds the Brown Eye, C45 etc. Pete with Gigamods does Randall stuff, which is very good, I've bought his work in the past and then there was Rock Star Nick who appears to be long gone from this forum, his mods were basically executing existing modifications, such as the X mod. In other words he didn't create sounds like Jeff or Bruce did, he followed a schematic and did what the "tone chefs" had cooked up already. No knock on Nick, great guy. I run into him occasionally on a thread over at the Gear Page. He did some very good work on modding my EG3 into a EG3X. Speaking of which, the X mod (the most popular and relevant mod) that was being performed by Jeff at Egnater and other mods he and Bruce developed were VERY popular. Jeff could also do quite a bit of "cooking" in the kitchen himself to obtain certain mods. When he was with Egnater he basically told me that it would be possible to do a Rebel 30 mod, so the 20 would not seem far off, certainly "doable".

Okay finally the question. Do we know where Jeff is? Does he still do mods? Is he working with Frank at the Tone Lounge?
I guess the answer is really just a phone call away huh guys?

I am about to send off my EG5 to Jeff to do a little work on Ch B. He's still out there!

I know Jeff is still doing mods: his XTC mod, the Scorch module among others. I also know that Trace @ Voodoo can and will mod to your specs. If you tell him what sound, gain level, and vibe you're looking for and tell him what your setup is, ie. guitars, speakers, amp/power amp, etc, he will tell you if it can be done. He's a great guy to work with. I had him mod a couple modules for me and I am extremely happy with the results.
There is a finite limit on changing the modules sound without totally redesigning the circuit path. A lot of times, component changes get you where you want to go(or close) and I would assume the overall vibe of the rebel 20 could be achieved this way. I also know it won't be spot on unless your using 6V6 or EL84 output tubes.
I really do wish the modular platform could be an open platform so we could see consistent developement there, but it is what it is.....

So you reach him at the Amp Lounge?

Good to know guys. Looks like we've almost compiled a "sticky" worthy list of who mods the mods!

Actually, you just need to PM Jef about doing mods. I don't think he's at all affiliated with amp lounge even. I could be wrong. But I know he's reachable. He just got done doing the snorkeler mod for my XTC. He does great work.

Jeff isn't affiliated with anyone at the moment, but he is definitely still around.
