I used one of my Rebels the other day for a band practice. I set it up with an Egnater TM 212x. I was running the distortion through the Rebel 20 and my cleans through a Mesa Lonestar 212. I like the distortion sound on the Egnater much more than on the Mesa.

One thing I found very surprising is how loud this little guy is. My band is pretty loud, and I thought I'd have it turned up all the way to keep up with the band. Well, I had the Master at about 9-10 O'clock, so not even at half power and then the Gain at about 3 O'clock. The Rebel had no problems keeping up with the other guitarists JCM 2000. Granted, he sets it even lower. But still! This means that at a small to medium sized club, the amp will have no problem coping.

I'm using the Mesa for the clean headroom, as it's a 100 Watt amp. But I'm going to try and run my other Rebel next time for the cleans and see what happens. I'll keep one set for distortion and the other for cleans. I might just be able to get enough clean headroom out of it for the practices and then for shows if I mic it.

The Egnater distorted tone is exactly what diverted me from the Randall MTS stuff. Not that I won't buy any of the Randall's down the road but I find the difference is HUGE. Very articulate and refined. I've noticed similarities in all of the products I've tried whether it be the GC or MOD stuff. As Keith Howland put it, "It sounds like him (Bruce)".

As for the A/B setup that sounds like it would be killer. The similarity in volume with the Marshall that is to be expected. The difference is only a few db. Barely noticeable. I really want to try a Rebel sometime if my GC can keep one in stock.

I'm pretty stoked with the setup. I want to post a bunch of photos and vids when I get a chance.

I have the exact same set up with a Line 6 M-13 in front

It is the best all around most vesatile rig I have had in years and I have a Komet 60, Red Iron Mil Spec and an Alessandro Black and Tan. With the two Rebels going at the same time it will hang with the Komet!

I put a Mullard 12AX7 in V1 and 12AT7 in V2. Great tone..... people are amazed.....life is good! :D

That's awesome! I love the look of the 2 heads on top of the 2x12. What are you doing to switch between cleans and distortion? That's the main reason I'm running the Mesa too... For the cleans. Now, I could run one rebel clean and one dirty, but I'd need another cab. Cause if you are running 2 Rebels into the stereo plug of a single cab, you'll need to have them both pushing at the same time. Unless the cabinet is divided inside to separate the speakers. The Eggie 2x12 is not divided.

For a switcher, I recently picked up a Lehle Little Dual. I was using a Morley ABY. The Lehle is much more expensive but it's leaps and bounds better.

The 2x12 in the pic is split. It has three inputs, one is 8ohm mono and the other 2 are 16ohm for each speaker. It has Celestion 80 watters made for egnater that sound really good to me with the back panel removed. I set the gains at about 10:30 and get great cleans by rolling the guitar volume back just a little even with HB's. The gain pedals in the M-13 are a very good match with th Rebels.

Great tone and a VERY wide range of volume levels with good tone as well. It's a Marshally type of clean, very plucky and percussive. Not the big deep BF type but I really dig it.

Oh, I do understand how the cabinet has a right and a left input. I have that same cabinet. What I meant by split, is that the cabinet itself must have wall of wood between the speakers to isolate them from each other to make the setup true stereo. This current setup works fine so long as you have both amps running at the same time and playing relatively the same thing. If you had one amp off (muted) and the other playing, the speaker interaction would come into play. The speaker that is active will move air and physically move the speaker that is supposed to be quiet. So, if you decide to set one amp to clean and the other to dirty and then switch between them, you would need a separate cabinet to get proper response. That's what I was trying to say...

With the gain at 10:30 the Rebel has great overdrive tone. But for a lot of the stuff I play... Hard Rock, Punk, etc. I need much more gain. So, my setting is more or less around the 2:30 range on the gain knobs. So, at that high settings, rolling back the volume knob on the guitar does not clean it up enough before I start getting a BIG reduction in overall volume.

For that very reason, I'm running the Mesa Lonestar for the cleans. Apart from the fact that the Lonestar has ridiculous nice cleans.

I do want to get another Egnater cabinet later and run those Rebels in true stereo. But, it's hard to justify getting another 2x12. What I should get is a 1x12 so I can have something really portable for smaller gigs.

Then again, I still have the option (a good one too) of converting my Mesa Combo 2x12 into a head and selling the speakers and combo cabinet. With that money, I can get another Eggie 2x12. If I do that, I have 2 Cabinets and I can run the Rebels in true stereo, and on other occasions when I need a lot of clean headroom, I can still run the Mesa (head) into the Eggie 2x12. Now that's cool!

Yeah.... your getting a little more sophisticated than I am  .

I really did not care for the eggie 1 x 12. The 2 x 12 is great though. Two would be the $h!t.

Happy New Year
