Hey guys let me start off by saying I love the tone I can get from this amp, both the cleans and OD are amazing. However I only played this amp for a total of 5 hours in two days before its giving me problems.

Heres where its going sour. Im playing on my clean channel decently loud and when i switch to the OD channel (channel 2) the volume is simply not there. I have the volume set to about 7 on Channel 2. However when I dial it back the volume stays the same, BUT When I crank it back up again the volume doesnt change until about 7 or so out of 10, at which point it blasts and crackles and even oscillates sometimes. Only on occasion can I dial the volume back down and it will be normal. 90% of the time the volume cuts right out and even at 6,5,4 it sounds like its on 3. Its always crackling too.

Someone please give me some answers, Ive emailed egnater support 5 days ago and still no response.

Im a noob at troubleshooting my amps or changing tubes Ive only had one tube amp before, and it was an original 66 fender twin with no issues ever.

Thanks for your help guys.

Gotta start with pre amp tubes first. Do you have any extra one's lying around that you know are good?? Just replace one at a time until you find the bad one. I'd bet that's it though. If it were a power tube issue, I think you'd have the similar issue on your clean channel as well.

You can also try to just pull the tubes and re seat them just to make sure they are all the way in.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just reseated and switched around 4 of the preamp tubes and no change, still the volume in channel 2 keeps cutting in and out. I have no other tubes laying around..

OK, where is your power tube blend knob?? Move it all the way to the right and check, then move to the left and check again. Is it the same both ways?? I think this should eliminate the power tubes. Give that a shot and post back.

Could this be a shorted wire somewhere, or a bad pot or something like that?

Most likely a tube problem. You will want to get some known good tubes to switch out. You may just be switching a bad tube to another location and getting the same problem. You will need to have spare tubes around anyway, so you might as well get some.

yep, should always have good spares around. I also think it's a bad pre amp tube. Chinese and Tung Sols are good and they are pretty cheap.

Very sorry about you not getting a response in a timely manner. If you e-mail nate@egnateramps.com directly, he will be able to help you with this issue.

chrisurbs, send me a pm on here with your e-mail address. I will make sure someone gets this sorted out for you(if they haven't already)
