This is discouraging, my Rebel 30 head is going back to MF, it already being an exchange for a Renegade that was defective. The R30 has no distortion on the overdrive channel. It's like I have an amp with two clean channels, of which the overdrive one has lots of hum but no overdrive. Even my Rebel 20, which I continue to love, has more overdrive. I haven't read the manual on the R30 but am I missing something? I also was wondering what the thinking was behind the decision to put the reverb controls and power switch in the rear? I don't know if I should try this one more time (another exchange with MF) or just get a refund. :(

sounds like you have some bad tubes, which is common for tubes to get damaged or just not positioned correctly during shipping. I would always have some spare tubes laying around to swap to see if that remedies it before shipping back.

Two small knobs on back control the reverb for each channel. Did you not look back there or what? Yes the switch is on the back. Why is that a problem? My Rebel 30 blows the house down. Sounds like the second channel had a bad tube, so yes, you are seriously missing something ... IMO. Is this your first tube amp? They require some patience sometimes man.

I just saw the reverb controls back there, seems like a strange place for them, they were on the front on the Renegade as was the power switch. I checked all the tubes and made sure they were seated properly. Channel two seems to be overdriving now.

Any channel setting recommendations anyone is finding are the sweet place for this?

renegade has more space to fit stuff in. Rebel was meant to be compact, and only so much you can fit on the front panel.

operator error? I wouldn't bad mouth an amp if you cant read a manual or find a knob?

I'll give you mine when I get home so I can look at it. What kind of speakers are you running?

a Scumback and Tone Tubby 2 x12, a 1 x 12 Celestion Gold, a 1 x 12 Cannabis Rex

Nice, good speakers. All setting are in "O'clcock" I am running my amp at 9 on the tube mix (about 75% EL84). Wattage Ch 1 is at 5PM (all the way up) Ch 2 is at 12 Noon (about 15 watts). Clean Channel: V - 9, B - 10, T - 1. Tight & Bright up. Dirty Channel: G - 2:30, B - 11, M - 11, T - 3:30. Tight - up, Bright down. I am using gain pedals to drive it so without gain pedals I would probably set the Channel two gain a little higher, so like somewhere around 3 - 3:30 should do it.
