If you go into silent mode on the Rebel 30, could you plug a set of headphones into the outlet in the back and use it as a headphone out or would it overload them?

Thanks!

technically I think you could it with an adapter (since it's XLR, unlike the TM) but I wouldn't recommend it, you might damage your cans and or your ears. What I do in situations like this is run the output of the rebel into a small (2 or 4) channel mixer that will allow you to control the strength of the signal and then use the headphone out on the mixer. That'll allow you to get some heat goin' on the rebel without killin' your ears or your cans. I have a little cheapo behringer mixer that I bought for about 80 bucks for just this purpose, works great for certain recording situations or when I wanna jam along with a track without buggin' the family or neighbors. Hope this helps. Did you get your tourmaster fixed yet?

Wouldn't the volume controls on the Rebel 30 control the volume output of the recording out?

I thought of that with the Behringer mixer- I have it also.

The Rebel 30 combos have a combined XLR-1/4 inch recording output.

Tourmaster is still in the shop. I'm sure that is going to take a while.

I'm not sure I am going to give up the Tourmaster. It's heavy, and that silent record out is nice, but I was playing through the Rebel 30, Renegade, and Tourmaster today and I still thought the Tourmaster beat them. The Tourmaster also has some nice feature the others don't have.

Thanks!

Yeah, I think the volume control would control the rec. output but, it seems like it would be pretty hot directly into a pair of cans. I've got a Rebel 20 so I'm not exactly sure. I wonder why the combo has a different output than the head...from what i've seen the head is only XLR. It would be nice to have the combined jack on the head. Yeah the Tourmaster is A LOT of amp...to much for me, but a great amp....plus I've got a lousy back so I like the portability and simplicity of the 20/30. A good friend of mine has a TM but he's had a lot of trouble taming it so to speak...he uses a Clapton strat and a Gibson Explorer. He seems to have to spend a lot of time tweakin' knobs to really get a sound he likes. Do you have the same issue?

It's a complex amp that takes awhile to master, but no, I think most of the settings sound good. I like a lot of the pre-sets in the manual. Your friend might try some of those. I like playing with all the knobs and buttons. The amp has a bit of Tweaker in it, I suppose. Other then the weight, my only complaint is that the line out is noisy.
