Looking for some clips of the Rebel doing teh brootlz,

It seems like it can pull it off, as I've seen some interesting videos online. Anyone got some good clips, or do you use your Rebel for metal?

This isn't brootal or metal by any means, but I whipped this up when I first got it just to check it out for fun and it has some gainy moments I guess. Maybe some day will try to make a heavier chugga clip

Sounds pretty good man! Thanks for sharing.

I'd love to pick up the one Jeff is selling, I just need to know it can pull off the metal tones I need.

possibly. The Rebel 30 isn't the tightest gainy head, and it has a certain vintage flavor to it rather then modern, but perhaps with the right pedal it may be modern mayhem.

I really like the more vintage flavor it has, but I also need to get that modern metal tone.

A very tall order, I know.

I am going to pick up a Suhr Riot pedal one of these days, bet that might sound good in the clean channel for a more modern gain sound?

Also, not in my clip, but I think if you stick to more of the 6v6 side, it has a slightly less pronounced mid and a little more metal, at least to me.

Jeff who is selling the modded one?

Not me I have a Rebel 1x12 cabinet for sale. Some misread the post.

Hi,
I've been using the R20 for nearly a year now and can't praise it enough....
If you want your guitar to sound like 'proper' metal as opposed to fizzy bedroom tones then the R20 is up for the job!
I play through an old Marshall 4x12 which definitely helps - no problems re-creating anything from Crazy Train, to Highway to Hell. The amp is much better to assess in a band situation where you can hear it properly. If you are looking for an overly processed sound you will need to monkey about with extras but I think that defeats the point....

If anything I would say that my playing has become more finely tuned since using this amp (I've been at it for nearly 30 years) as it exposes any glitches that are concealed by OTT fuzziness. My band mates have commented on how nice it is to be able to hear the guitar properly for a change (compared to previous overly driven guitarist in band), you may be surprised at how it is possible to have all out power without having to add extra drive, no feedback when you stop either! I put the Watts up full as it seems to give a fuller sound, Valve selector in middle.

You need to try one at a decent volume - you will never look back!!

Short clip I recorded this morning at 4:00am in SILENT mode via DI out, while the house was asleep. EQ on the board and in the DAW is run flat.

Rhythm guitar is guitar - cable - amp. The little lead part has a Behringer Virtualizer Pro in the loop. Guitar used was a late 80's Ibanez AS-80 fan head. stock. Drums are loops I threw in for fun.

Cant wait for everyone to get up so I can record this with a different guitar with hotter pickups, the speaker, and an SM57.

I read somewhere (maybe here?) that someone swapped out one of the preamp tubes in their Rebel 30 (I think it was V2) and the result was more gain on channel 2.

I'd love to know more about this from someone who's tried it, as I'd like to eek out just a tad more gain out of my Rebel 30 head too!
