rebel not putting out

Ok so I have an egnater rebel 20 head and matching cab, that I like very much. Been working fine...played it earlier in the week with no problem, then plugged in yesterday, and nothing no sound...checked the speaker cab with another amp, and its not the cab or speaker cable...no matter what output i try, no luck out of the head....any thoughts on first place to look for an easy fix? could it be a fuse issue? I don't really know much on tube amp repair, so any tips would be great....everything lights up ok as far as the power light. thanks,

Well, I am no technician, but my sense would be the output tubes. Maybe they have even just come loose?

I would also just check for loose connections inside. You never know. Big problems like this are usually simple in solution. It's the weird intermittent ones that drive you nuts.

Is there power coming in? Do the tubes and the jewel light go on? Take everything out of your effects loop as well. Try different guitars and different cables also. Try a different wall socket.

Anothern thing- Does the Rebel have a switchable effects loop? On the Tourmaster, if the Loop is switched on but the effects aren't on, that will kill the sound.

Get any effects out of the loop, and put the send and return down to zero, or shut the loop off if it is switchable.

My Rebel didn't turn on the other day. It had been working fine. I tried to turn it on, no pilot light, nothing. I check the connections, they seem ok, I check the power, and .... there's no power cord. Seems my wife needed to hook up a printer and took the first cord she could find :gethim:

Get her drunk first.  Seriously though fuses and tubes first.

You beat me to it!!!!

If your rebel isn't putting out, a few appletini's and a sappy movie might work.

+1 on tubes and fuses....

is there a way I can tell if the preamp tube is bad? prior to switching it out? if just one tube was out would there still be some sound?

how can I tell if the fuse is bad, I pulled the SLO fuse and to me it looked ok, but I guess I am not sure what I am looking for....

just for kicks, I just turned it on and left it on standby for awhile, just to see if it would make a big difference (like 5-10 min of standby), no glowing of the tubes...does that give any clues into other possibilities????

Like I said, I am no technician, but that says to me that no power is getting in there in the first place.

Have you checked that the power cable is firmly seated? It would be a little odd to have all of the tubes go at once.

Fuse is starting to make more sense also.

yeah the power cord is in firmly...and the light is coming on so I know it is getting power...how would I go about checking the fuse if that is the problem????

Yank both of the fuses and see if either are burnt.

Mains fuse beneath the power cord and HT to the right of the 16ohm speaker jack. If either are burnt replace them but you may have an underlying problem like bad power or faulty power tube which caused the fuse to fail. Good luck.
