I think GT did all the testing and relabeling for the GC line. The tubes look like all the other JJs I have laying around and just wanted to know if there are any other brands of 6V6s that can be excluded due to plate voltages and such, like the Mod?But thet do say GT.

A fine question that I'm sure the boys will answer for us soon. I could dropping a few bills on some NOS Sylvania or some Tung Sol. Mmmmmmmmmmyummy.

I hear ya Tommy,I got my hand on the buy it now button waiting for the word

FYI, the Egnater GrooveTubes powertubes are JJ's. We order the tubes direct from JJ and have GrooveTubes test, grade and label them for us. Remember GrooveTubes does not manufacture tubes. They test, grade and package many different brands of tubes.

Yea dig it. I think what is at the heart of this question though is the plate voltage in the Rebel being supplied to the 6V6 as opposed to the plate voltage in a MOD 50. In the MOD 50 the JJ is the only brand you can use because of the plate voltage.

Is the issue the same in the Rebel or can any 6V6 be used?

 You got it!Inquiring minds want to know :D

So how will different brands of tubies change the sound? Can you get more gain?

Sometimes but mostly there are subtle tonal differences between brands. Sometimes one has more gain or stronger midrange grind or better clean headroom etc etc. And that's just new tubes. If you really want to experience stellar tone some NOS 6V6 would be the stuff!!!!

Careful with the tube questions here. If the Egnater guys do actually give you an answer, wait a while before you actually change any tubes as they will issue a totally different answer a while later and then tell you that if you did what they suggested the first time, they will void your warranty.....been there, done that....just stick with the JJs......nothing but the finest quality Chinese tubes will work in your new chineeze amp......don`t rock the marketing boat with all these un-nerving questions....it puts them behind another month or so on their delivery dates. Jeez!!!!

Buy an Egnater amp and never ask questions.
