Recommend an amp, whole heartedly

It has been a while since I threaded here, mostly been lurking and admiring Suhrs haha, but here is the dilemma:

I have a 6505+ going into a 2x12, v30/g12k100. I clean boost it. I play deathmetal/core/shred/etc whatever you would like to call it. I play in B-standard (ala 7 string)

I am not looking to sell it, yet just looking for something new and different.

I love the tone of my 5150. It is brutal, and crunchy, to say the least. If I could morph the tone into something more complex (dimensional and 3d,) deeper with a more gutteral bass, not just blind resonance, and have it sound good at all volumes, it would be perfect. I dont value a clean channel as I dont play on it enough. Bedroom and live/band play are necessary.

In all honesty, I havent played much of the "high end" or "boutique" stuff out there, nor can I due to my location -- no dealers are around me (Detroit Metro, MI) Ive played all the typical guitar center stuff (marshall, mesa, etc.) and although I can get along with Marshalls and sometimes get a Mesa to sound good (although quite sparingly, which makes me wonder how people ever get these amps to sound so amazing in recordings) I dont think I would ever own either brand as I would not be satisfied in the same way as my 5150.

I have been on forums for years, absorbing the crap we all do about amps and gear in general. I have talked to many dealers to gain product knowledge, including Josh over at Rebel Amps, Derek at rocksolidamps, and my good buddy Nick @ the Axe Palace (who being a tone guru believes a Rivera K-Tre or Fryette Deliverance would be my ticket)
Yet, I come to you guys, the public, for a "whole hearted" recommendation. Any raw clips without processing would be cool too, but only if it illustrates the genre I am aiming for.

To give some ideas of the kinds of tones I personally dig, although recorded albums:

- The new FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS album "Relentless" has awesome tones:

- Anything by WHITECHAPEL:

- The new BURY YOUR DEAD album "It's Nothing Personal":

- The new IMPENDING DOOM album "The Serpent Servant":
https://www.myspace.com/impendingdoom

- MESHUGGAH "Chaosphere"

- MISERY SIGNALS "Controller"

- BRING ME THE HORIZON "Suicide Season"

- NEVERMORE "This Godless Endeavor"

- The new SUICIDE SILENCE album "No Time To Bleed"

Sorry for the apparent lameness of deathcore (can't help what you enjoy though,) this huge lengthy thread, and extreme pickiness

I would get a good quality 4x12 cab first. You will need at least 1 4x12 to get the tone you're going for imho.

Thanks for the input but I've owned many diff cabs and am very satisfied with the 2x12 I own; it's not a problem in my rig, if anything compliments my tone quite a bit

There are a lot of amps that will sound good for what you want. The 5150 probably does those tones the best though. I'm sure you'd be happy with something like a Powerball or Cobra, maybe a Soldano. If you can't try them out, I'd suggest doing what most people (including me) have done and just buy one amp, sell it, buy another one, sell it, try another, etc. That's the only way you'll know which one you're gonna like best if you can't try them out locally. You can even make a few dollars that way if you don't overpay for stuff. Just look out for deals on random amps you think you might like.

Hahahaha mark, it's Joe, "joeyinflames" on hc, "killeralphamale" on aim

Haha, yeah I know it's you. What's your user name from? It seems familiar. Isn't it from Tekken or something?

"morph the tone into something more complex (dimensional and 3d,) deeper with a more gutteral bass, not just blind resonance, and have it sound good at all volumes"

I have three suggestions for you:

Uberschall - It's not as tight as your amp, but by definition you just descriped it. They boost really well, but with the right guitar and pickups you probably won't need a boost. The new one is supposed to be tighter though so if that's the route you wanted to go it may be worth holding out for it.

High Gain Jose Mod - If you can find one of these, they can easily get brutal. Obvisously the Cameron ones will be hard to find, but Fortin does a mod California mod (his take on the Jose circuit) that sounds fantastic in clips.

Fortin JCM 800 Hulk Mod - This would be my choice first choice if you wanted something now. From the clip I've heard and the what I've heard from others it would do what you want right out of the box without a boost or anything. I've never heard a Marshall sound like the one in that video clip. You could also wait for the Fortin Natas, which is supposed to be even beastlier.

I've always thought the ubers were kinda like Mesa: large and boomy with a general lack of tightness...?

tell me what you know about the natas

For that kind of tone you dont need boutque IMO.

I would pick up an old Ampeg VH140C Head and spend the extra money on 2 EV loaded 4x12 Cabs. (Killer Sounding Rig)!

If you had to have high end I would get the New Bogner Uberschall Twin Jett

The VH140C doesn't sound like any of the tones he listed though. That amp sounds more like old school death metal like Suffocation and Dying Fetus. The tones he listed are way different and modern sounding.

for what it's worth, i've never found anything that thumps like a Herbert or a Triple recto! there's tighter amps around, but haven't found one with the thump factor? if you really want thump, this may be the way to go, and then tighten with a boost or something?

when i was on a big and boomy but tight kick, i was wanting to try either an Orange Thunderverb or one of the big watt Green amps, but never got around to it. the Thunderverb is priced fairly decent.

Blackstar has a high gain 200watt monster that should be hitting the streets one of these days?

other than that, i can't really think of anything that's really gonna have tons more thump than a 5150?

imagine Fortin could build a thumper if he wanted? the Bones has enough watts?

Randall RM100, check
1086 module, check
Ultra XL module, check
pick a clean module , check
send modules to Pete Turley and he will tweek them to your spefcation

= total bliss!!
