I need a neck humbucker that will complement an EVH Frankenstein bridge pickup. I think it measures around 14.5k. Going to be installed in a les paul. The main thing I'm looking for is clarity...and it doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg :D

I put a Duncan Jazz in the neck of my Les Paul, definitely an improvement in the clarity department. Put a JB in the bridge as well. Both sound good, but the one thing I don't like is how they sound together in the middle toggle position. So the Jazz is worth checking out for clarity but it may or may not play well with the bridge you have.

Dimarzio Humbucker from Hell, Bluesbucker (P-90 tone), or PAF 36th.

Best I have is the Tom Holmes h450, and that's one arm and two legs. Hell, robotics have come a long way.

Best reply right here. That Jazz will sound great, but no matter what pickup you get it might not mesh well in middle toggle. That takes alot of trial and error.

The MCP 2nd Degree Black Belt neck is killer. It's very clear & open. I have it in my LP currently & it's almost single coil like in clarity, but obviously much bigger & fuller. Not a hot pickup, but it has balanced fine with some hotter bridge pickups I've paired it with.

The Duncan '59 neck is another less expensive option that sounds nice as well.

Personally, I did not like the 2nd degree black belts at all. Not sure what they were trying to achieve unless it was lifeless flat tone. Perhaps I got a bad set...

I like the dimarzio Air Norton, Bareknuckle VHII , my PRS Johnny Hiland neck.

A good one that may match up with that EVH is the Dimarzio PAF Pro. Might want to give that a try.

Dimarzio air classic bridge in neck position. Nice detail, warm, not flat to my ears. I might like it a tad better than the duncan 59 I have in the neck of my charvel.

I use an old AGI Lace TransSensor silver in the neck of my Tele. Sounds great, good warmth with clarity.
