Recording Distorted guitars

I remember reading it the first time someone linked me to it & I thought what a waste of time that was, a lot of BS with not much useful information.
 
oh, i really think there is here and there some really usefull and serious information, between all the " f*** "'s and rants fo Slipperman.

wish it was more coherant, tried to read and get good info from it, but way more fluff the substance. thanks for sharing though.
 
Getting a good guitar sound is more about monitoring than anything else. The biggest quality increases in the guitar sound I've gotten were when I changed something in the monitoring chain/room. As of today I'm confident I could get any sound I wanted if I could have the right circumstances & equipment for monitoring. Second important part is the room in which the amp is being recorded. As for recording chain I would be fine with an SM57 & any good quality preamp.
