OK I would like to try Svetlana 6550C's in my Mod 50 but they are too large and will have to have the tube holder/ locks removed before they can be installed. Pulling the cage and looking inside, I can see that there are two screws per tube holding them down. Anybody know if the chasis will have to be pulled to remove them. I'm thinking there might be nuts on the backside. If the chasis has to be pulled is there a simple way to do it. Since I've never taken this amp apart before, any directions would be appreciated. Thanks
Mike

I'm pretty sure the nut or whatever is captive. I've done this several times...just be sure to replace the screw after removing the clip, it provides strain relief (I assume) by fixing the socket to the chassis.

Just unscrew and take the retainers off and screw back in.What's up there Mike?

Just trying something different. In search of the holy grail (tone) you know. I've sent a few emails back and forth with Eric who has been really helpful. I put a set of G12K100's into the GC Egnater 412 and wow what a difference. It might be too early to go gaga over them but so far I'm impressed. Eric likes the 6550's in his Mod 50 so I'm going to give it a try. I just didn't want to pull out the screws from the locks and have the nuts fall off and short something out. So how you liking that Rebel?

 I hear ya Mike! The Rebel is the coolest!!I've got it plugged into the OS 112 with the CL-80 and it really, really sounds great!!!!

Ya just pull the screws and remove the retainers. Put the screws back in as they are for socket and board support.

I had to pull the chassis to get at those screws...I couldn't get a small screwdriver to loosen them.
