Hi there ,

New to the forum ,
Searched but can not find how ?

I wonder , how it works ?
Is it triod/pentode thing or class A/AB thing or single ended or push/pull or what ?

All the power tubes run on both watt positions ?

School me please .

Thanks in advence.
Best Regards ,
Hakan

I also wonder if tubes wear out faster in one setting than another?

C'mon !

Nobody knows it ?

I believe Mr.Egnater knows how .

If all tubes are running and no ohms adjustment is needed, my guess is triode / pentode.

Are you just curious, or are you trying to figure something out?

No solid answers yet ?

I am curious , I wanna learn .

Is that "Top Secret" ?

It uses a voltage controlled DC driver supply.

Thanks for your kind answer Mr.Egnater :)

So this means all tubes still work but with low driver power ?
Can we get early power tube break up with this 18 watt mode ?

Thanks ,

Hakan

Well yes......but please go to egnateramps.com in the Tech section. Read Technote 101 for some interesting information.

Hi again ,

My question ,

Can I change the watt switch when playing or do I have to go stand by first ?

Anyone find 18 watts useable ? I always like 65 watts , what that 18 watt setting is for ?

Thanks for looking ,
Thanks very muchos for answering .

You can switch the wattage at any time. I love the 18 watt mode. It doesn't make that much volume difference. It is more of a subtle tonal effect- Makes the power tubes work harder.

At home,i'm using 18W most of the time.I use the 65W when i want super-clean with lot of headroom.(For ex.,i would start on 65W Ch1 with my Deja-vibe and switch to 18W on the fly ,for another flavour etc.)Live,it's ,of course, different :) !

Thanks for the answers .

But I must say that 18 watts position tone comes to me very compressed and muddy .

Maybe I must change the settings for 18 watts ?

:)

Kick in the tight switch. That will help. I keep the presence and density off as well. It does make the power tubes overload more easily- That is what it is supposed to do. I suppose you could try different power tubes if you wanted. Might help to check and see if the power tubes are properly biased as well.

The switches on the Renegade ( or any amp for that matter) are to give you a variety of sound choices. If you find a certain setting does not sound the way you like, just don't use that setting?? The 18 watt setting will sound more compressed and muddy than 65 watts because you are overloading more stages in the amp. I assume this is more apparent at louder volumes? Once you use up the 18 watts (or 65 watts) turning the volume up more will just cause the power stages to squish and compress more.
