Recently changed my rig from boogie (too loud!) to the renegade head - great tones that I'm really happy with - a quick question?
-seems like my clean channel has altered itself recently (in the last five gigs) - before I had a nice smooth ramping of gain as knob was rotated - now, very little variation until just after 2 o'clock, then a loud volume/gain jump.
Set up
Rehearsal/ small gigs - telecaster to head to 1x10 jensen equipped cab, running at 15w. delay in the FX loop, tuner, Compressor and BB booster in the chain
Bigger gigs - 70s bassman speaker cab the only difference.
Ran a pedal steel through it last night (playing western swing) - guys in the band thought it sounded great,
but I still don't think it's my imagination - the tone is still sweet but not so easy to get crunchy without big adjustments.
Any ideas guys?

I would check the preamp tubes first. Here's a layout of the tubes and will help you out.

Be aware, it's hard to get to the preamp tubes. I have taken the front off of my renegade, when I was messing with the preamp tubes. It's two screws on each side (need a long screw driver) you can take it off and put it back on without taking the chasiss out.
