Renegade 6L6 Tube Question

I recently noticed that when switching from my EL34 tubes to my 6L6's via the Tube Mix control seems to result in a lack of "oomph" in the amp and it doesn't seem quite as powerful. It's not a HUGE drop mind you, but I can tell a difference in the low end and the overall loudness of the amp. This affects both channels. I checked the bias and they're running at 67mV which is within range. Also, I've noticed that both of my 6L6's are glowing blue and orange whereas all my other tubes are just orange.

Any ideas?

*edit*
Tried a pair of 5881's in the 6L6 slot and they exhibit the same small loss of low end/fullness that the 6L6's do but they don't seem to glow much compared to the 6L6's either... still at a loss.

I noticed the same thing with my 6l6's stk or even NOS 6l6's. I think 6l6's put out less power and have less mids. I like the el34's better in my renegade. I think you're OK but, others will chime in.

That's exactly how it sounds... A little less power and a little less punchy due to less mids. I just want to make sure that's normal and not my amp! I guess I could pop in all EL34s, rebias them and see if there's any difference between the mix to rule out the amp?

Same with my Renegade 212. I notice a very slight volume drop but it's mostly a tonal change: less texture. More of a flat sound.

I prefer the 6l6 tone for my clean channel - it's more Fendery.

Based on our experiences described here, it sounds normal.

Yep, then I guess all is well and I can sleep soundly tonight lol!

Thanks for the replies!

Just FYI, the Rebel 30 reacts and sounds the same way.
I'm starting to realize I enjoy the sound of the 6V6's more than the EL-84's, but they do have a little less ooomph.
