Renegade Fan Replacement

Hey guys,

I posted on here before about the noisy fan on the Renegade. I'll quickly review the situation. First of all, I do love this amp.

I bought the Renegade last August in the UK where I live. The fan was noisy. Egnater offered replacement fan but then withdrew this offer because I would have to pay for shipping due to me living in the UK and said I had to take it back to shop. Shop gave me replacement amp instead of waiting for a new fan. The new fan on it seemed fine at first but has got worse again over time to a point where it's ridiculously loud again - it's far noisier than my xbox 360 fan, and that thing's loud.

I want to replace the fan with a quieter one and am happy to pay to replace it. I have given the shop enough hassle so I'd rather just deal with this on my own. Is there any way you guys at Egnater can tell me the fan to buy and I can replace it myself? Or has anyone else bought a replacement fan that's good and quiet? I also don't want to void the warranty.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Dale

PS - I was looking inside and noticed that the EL34s in mine are Rubys while the 6L6s are Sovteks. Are these stock or has this been changed at some point before it got to me?

Those are the stock tubes, Ruby's and Sovteks...My fan isn't quiet, but I never hear it when I play...And on a gig, it would be impossible to hear due to ambient noise...So, in the end, I have just left it as is...I suppose you could put some fancy fan in there...Even at home, i don't even notice it anymore...When I had Boogies, I use to hear the fan too, but again, you aren't going to hear it on a gig...Haven't heard it in my mics either while recording...

Yeah, the fan would have to be REALLY noisy to bug me. I don't see it as an issue at all.
On the other hand, I haven;t even noticed the fan on my Renegade so far.

I have a fairly new Renegade and the fan is super quiet. I didn't realize it had one until I looked inside. :D

Looks to me like a standard fan you'd find in a PC with a 3 pin connector. Should be very easy to swap out.

Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate it.

I do get what you're saying about trying not to notice it, but it has become very loud.

So we're just talking a standard PC fan? Anyone from Egnater able to give me a specifics of the new and quieter fan I was offered? Thanks again in advance!

make sure there's nothing hitting the fan blades. My renegade fan was making noise but, it was the wires that go to the fan, hitting the blades.

My fan was noisy. Not smooth but mechanical sounding. The fan they sent me to replace it is fine. Another example of Bruce and Nate taking care of my Renegade.

As was stated in an earlier post, it is impossible to hear on a quiet stage, let alone while it's being played.

Question: Why are you willing to buy an aftermarket fan but not pay for shipping for the right fan from Egnater? -Just curious.

I'm not trying to hassle you about this at all, but I'm curious as well? Obviously anything we send you will still be covered and backed by us or our dealers, where an aftermarket fan will mean we can't cover that part. Obviously plenty of people change out fans with more efficient, or less noisy ones, and it won't hurt anything as long as it's installed right and moving enough air. If you want to shoot an e-mail to me(ian@egnater.com), I can get you the proper specs for the OEM fan, but you will have to find a fan matching the specs. Shouldn't be too hard to find one, and I'm sure someone on here can help you track one down.

Thanks Ian, I've sent you an e-mail. Very much appreciated.

To answer your question hbucker, I would have paid for the shipping, but the option and facilitiy to do so wasn't really given to me. After discovering I lived in the UK, they said to take it back to the shop because otherwise I'd have to pay for the shipping of the new fan. So I took it back to shop, they replaced the amp, but now the fan's even louder, so I just want to do something about it.

To quote Nate in the e-mail after giving all my details and proof of purchase he said:

"If I send the part from here you will have to pay shipping, so contact GuitarGuitar and they can help you."

So I did what I was told, haha! :) But I just want to resolve it myself now that it's happened again. Knowing I can do something about it and get a quieter one I just want to do that and improve the amp. Just to say it is loud - I was just playing at a decent volume and in every pause I could hear it.
