Renegade MAIN 1 vs MAIN 2

I have a Renegade 1x12 and had a problem recently with volume ... The renegade didnt seem loud enough for band practice. I had to crank it almost 75% to get it to hold up with the other guitarist and we werent even practicing that loud .. I figured 65W all tube amp should be killing it in volume.

I was on Main 1 when It seemed to lacking the volume, when I switched it to main 2 (the boost?) it was crazy loud. It went from being on almost 75% on MAIN 1 to about 10% on main 2 and main 2 was still louder.

I know MAIN 2 is a boost but didnt know it would be night and day boost. I figured just a little bit.
It sounds so good now though .. man am i happy. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Is this what MAIN 2 is used for? I wont blow anything by "always" using main 2, will i?

That's weird.Unless you were playing on Ch1 with low gain..Main1 should be loud enough.

It went from being on almost 75% on MAIN 1 to about 10% on main 2 and main 2 was still louder.

Of course.Main2 will always be louder unless you play Main1 at full power (Max).Main2 start at Main1 volume level (your setting on Main1).It's like the "solo" knob on a M&B amp.You won't blow anything by using Main2 all the time but it's not normal.It shouldn't be necessary. NB:Main1 at max = Main2 at max.

I have the gain on MAIN1 at about 50% (which wasn't really cutting it at practice - i had to go to about 75% or 80% overall volume to keep up) ...

Oh so MAIN2 starts based on what the MAIN 1 volume is set to? I wasnt aware of that. I thought they were just 2 separate channels uncontrolled by each other .. MAIN 1 is about 12 O'CLOCK and I have MAIN2 at like 9 O'CLOCK (hardly anything). MAIN2 is so loud and just seems to sound better to me. I'll probably leave it on main 2 since i have a boost on my NOVA SYSTEM if needed.

Is it supposed to be a huge difference like that?
