Renegade: Main 2 vol boost. What's the secret??

As much as I love the concept of the Main 2 volume boost on my Renegade, I rarely use it because it's so hard to dial in just a smidge of volume boost without completely overpowering Main 1.

Anyone have a secret on how to set the amp so that the incremental volume change is less radical??

thx

Run the main master volume at 12 o'clock or just past...then the 2nd master can be adjusted much easier. I used to have the same problem...either to loud or not enough when I hit the boost. Give it a try.

Yep,that's right. It's logical too.If you run Main1 at low volume,Main2 is indeed very LOUD/sensitive ;) .If you would run Main1 at full power,Main2 wouldn't be louder. So,the highest you set Main1,the less sensitive Main2 will become. When i'm playing at home,i mostly use Main 2 for the single-coil positions on my HB guitars. That works quite well at any setting +/-

I'm a huge fan of the Main 2 boost. I stomp on it for choruses and big riffs. It's almost like stamping on an X/Y pedal and switching on another amp alongside the Renegade. It's such a huge boost.

I also love how I can switch back to an unboosted clean channel due to the footswitch letting me have the boost just on the Channel 2.

What a bloody brilliant amplifier!

This isn't actually true. If you run Main 1 wide open, Main 2 would still provide a boost in gain/volume and would be louder. Try it out!

I've never tried that  !On my original quote i wrote "i guess" at the end but i thought it didn't matter... ;) I agree with you,Soda,it's a great amp !I love it !

Hello all, How I run my amp is Main 2 is always on when playing Channel 1 and off when playing Channel 2. Channel 1 is always clean, gain 11 o'clock ish with the channel volume about the same. Channel 2 is always gain up 1 o'clock ish with the channel volume low, 9 o'clock. all the volume is from the power amp side but with the gains high I ride the guitars volume to bring in more gain and a boost for solos. With the Main 2 always in Channel 1 you keep the loud in Channel 1 even when rolling guitar volume down. I also use a ecc81 valve in the V4 position in Channel 2 for a more vintage gain feel. when you need more gain you stomp on a pedal. I have found that here in the UK I'm biasing my amp 10 clicks under what Egnater say they should be in the manual. If set as in the manual my Renegade sounds harsh, way too hot that makes the break up either clean or dirty with no in between, 10 clicks under and the amps a dream. Hope any of that is of interest to anybody.
