Renegade power fuse keeps blowing

I received and installed a new power transformer from Egnater for my Renegade head. The unit now turns on, but the small power fuse on the back of the amp where the cords plugs in blows when I take the amp off standby. If my guitar isn't plugged in to the input, the standby switch doesn't blow the fuse. With the guitar plugged in, the fuse blows when I use the standby switch. There is nothing wrong with the guitar and cable - they work just fine on my back-up amp. Please note that I was very careful to attach all wires from the transformer exactly like they were attached from the OEM transformer. I have double checked the wires and everything is properly attached. Please let me know if anyone has a suggestion as to the possible source of the problem.

This is a very odd and scary thing. I would suggest you do NOT continue to try to figure this out on your own. Anything that would somehow tie the guitar input and the mains power is potentially dangerous. I suggest you have an experiented amp repair person look at this for you before something really bad happens. I have never heard of anything like what you are describing, ever. The fact that it did not do this before you replaced the transformer and now it does would indicate something serious went wrong.
