Renegade settings?

Had a renegade head at the house for a few days and having some difficulty dialing in a good drive tone. Trying to get a nice full, round, drive tone. The cleans are stellar. Bottom end is just a bit loose on the drive side. Playing through a bogner os2x12.

From what I've read, Egnaters seem to be very balanced with all knobs at noon, and then you tweak to your liking.


kep in mind that you could have a bad preamp tube affecting channel 2

Change the preamp tubes.

Slap some Chinese 9th gens/new Mullards or Tung Sol's in there.... or even an RFT or 2 if you have them.

I just got mine yesterday and after playing it for 15 minutes, immediately changed the preamp tubes. I can't stand Sovtek's in anything but VHT's

ey man, care to gimme your little review of the amp? you've own everything out there, so I'd like to know your opinion on the amp

Maybe I should check the bias as well as try some different preamp tubes. I hate pulling an amp out of the box and having to change everything. I had one of the first tourmasters and it didn't sound good at all. I played another one after they were tweaked and it sounded tremendously better. I think they sound great now. My renegade sort of has that sound on the drive side. A bit splatty and grainy.

I hear ya....but it isn't like it needs revamped. Just needs new preamp tubes IMHO.

I really like the gain tones I am hearing.


FWIW, the 6L6's were biased REALLY hot when I got mine. I rebiased both sets of tubes.
