I'm pretty sure it's a tube problem, but I'm not the most experienced gear person so I'm just wanting you guy's opinions!

The only thing I've done recently is replace the fan. I had the take out the chassis few times due to a few wiring difficulties, but was always careful and that's all fine now.

I've heard the amp twice give out a mild 'thump' or 'bang' for want of a better expression that sounds like a dodgy cable (but I assure it's not that). After having the amp on standby and heated up, I put it on it makes a sort of hissing, static, fizzy sound (I wish I could find the words) that gradually dissapears after a couple of seconds.

Is this a tube problem?

Thanks in advance. As you can probably tell, I'm very much a tube amp noob. Only really getting to grips with them now.

Those sounds you hear when the amp comes off of standby are the filter caps charging up.every tube amp I own does this, some louder than others, but filter caps make noise when they are charging...have no fear!!

Sounds like a potentially bad tube. Exact thing happened a time or two in a JSX head and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe I have. The Peavey had a new quad of 6L6's and one went after a couple of weeks (can't recall brand, but I know they were NOT Ruby's). Fender was original Groove Tube. It just got too old.
