Hi,
I posted this earlier in a different forum but have now realised that this is where it needs to be!

Some brief tech advice needed...

Can I replace the power amp valves in my Renegade with 4x 6L6s?
ie. run it with the blend knob in the middle and all 4 of them going at the same time.

Has anyone done this?
If so, how does it sound - what difference does it make?
Do you have to modify anything to do it or can you just swap them? (apart from setting the bias obviously)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Feel free to put 4x 6L6's in your Renegade and run the tube mix at noon if that's whatcha want to do.

I personally haven't done this but I imagine it would just sound like the current 6L6 side but just a little louder as running the tube mix at noon uses all 65 watts.

No modification needed... Just swap the tubes, bias and you're good to go.

They will swap in no problem. Sound wise, I can't say you'll hear a huge difference over 2 6L6's, but it won't hurt anything.

Question - is the Renegade a fixed bias amp? Or do you need to reset the bias with power tube changes?

Egnaters are not fixed bias amps. Yes you would need to reset the bias. The manual should explain how.
