I know Bruce includes features that makes guitarists lives easier, so does this voltage selector enable you to talk this amp from say the US to the UK without any modification? This would be a massive plus for touring musicians I imagine.

Yes, its a great feature. I'm using my US-bought M4 and Rebel 20 in the UK without modification. Just flip the switch and replace the fuse.

Crikey, this must have distributors very worried!

We have actually run into this lately. Manufacturers warranties (Egnater included) are valid ONLY in the country where the product was purchased. The issue is that there are distributors who provide the support and service if needed in each individual country. They are the ones who import, advertise, deliver, service etc. in their individual countries. If you purchase a product outside of your own homeland and it needs service, those distributors can't be expected to provide that free of charge because you, the end user, essentially bypassed them and brought it in yourself. Normally, if you have a problem with something you buy, you return to the dealer you bought it from and they take care of you. In a case like this, there is no dealer to return it to unless you ship it back to where you purchased it. This something you should all be aware of. The issue is not that there is no warranty service in every country, but rather if you buy something outside of that country, the distributor is not going to be responsible for it. The distributors make a substantial investment to carry/distribute a line of products. They absorb all the cost of duty, taxes, repairs, advertising, customer service, shipping, currency exchange,...etc. etc. That is why products can cost more outside the US.

That last sentence is something that most of us are totally oblivious too, the cost of a US amp in Australia is usually about double but the import duties are pretty high here and of course noone ever considers the advertising costs or customer service. Having said that, I would probably take the risk on a direct from US for one of your amps. I'm considering selling my Genz Benz Black Pearl after the Sydney demo!
