Hi guys

I've been having some issues with my Renegade head for a while now! I cant get the bias above 50mV on the 6L6 side and have tried many different tubes (pre and power). I can only use the EL34 side as I can't get the volume from the 6L6 side. I'm also getting hum form the amp when not playing (guitar volume down) and feedback when I mute the strings when playing. At low volume the amp sounds fine but when cranked the tone becomes brittle and feeds back. Channel 1 has no hum or feedback issue's.

After checking the PCB the only issue I could see was that a brown wire was plugged into a red/yel socket (see attached pic)?

Si

Hi Si198328J,

Is your amp still under warranty? If so, a call to Egnater might be the thing to do. :dunno:

Hi Bud, I've taken my Renegade out of it's shell and mine is the same, Brown wire in same socket, as yours. So that ain't your problem.....Sorry.

I had a Blackstar Series One 100 that I had 18 months of crap with, Blackstar had it back 3 times and it kept coming back with the same problem, it had a strange distortion, almost like clipping, always under the sound of the guitar, and I could never get a great lead tone, everybody laughed and was no help, so I know your pain. It ended up being a bad solder joint, but by this stage I had made my mind up it had to go.....enter the Renegade.

Hope you get it sorted.

The brown wire is correct so that is not the issue. Can you explain your knob settings when the feedback and other problems occur?

Also, verify the slide switch next to the power inlet is set to 117, not 100.
