Hello Everyone,
Just joined, but I've been reading for the last 4 or 5 months ever since I got my Renegade Head & 4x10 cabinet. Great amp & it looks so cool.
My question relates to changing the pre-amp tubes. I was going to put in the Tung Sol 12AX7 reissues & have already installed 1 in the V1 position. I have the Tung Sols in my Orange Rocker 30 & am happy with them for the price.
Now the question. Does anyone know if the V2 tube is considered a "cathode follower"? The guy I get my tubes from (Mike at KCA NOS Tubes) recommends NOT using the Tung Sol 12AX7 in a position that is considered a "cathode follower" in the circuit. He says that in many Marshall amp (and others) that the V2 position is a "cathode follower" I know next to nothing about amp circuits & he is unfamiliar with Egnater amps, so, looking for some help here before I buy any more 12AX7's.
Any opinions on other (reasonably priced) 12AX7's to use?
Thanks
