Hey guys

I have a few strat bodies kicking around that I'd like to revive, without breaking the bank. Which companies should I be looking at? I hear USA Custom Guitars make great necks, but do they still offer the actual strat headstock, or do they all have that nub on the head now? How are Musikraft necks? Or Mighty Mite? I want a neck that I can slap on right away; that won't require a fret dress. Maple, 22 fret, finished, birdseye would be nice but not required. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Matt

I wholeheartedly endorse USA Custom Guitars.
It takes 2 minutes to sand the nub off.

Ah, nice! I contemplated that...just sanding it off.

Are the Fender logo's fairly easy to get?

The guy I use pulls down his website and changes it every coupla months, but you can track him down with a little effort.
If I can find his current site, I'll PM you the link.
Obviously, he has to be real careful, but as you can see, his decals are top notch.

Warmoth also makes Strat necks with some cool options. I haven't bought from them but I hear good things. Reliablefender on ebay sells Fender necks, deals can be had there. I bought an American HiWay One neck for the same price as a Warmoth and it's an actual Fender (if that means anything).

I have warmoth and musikraft necks on some of my builds...both make a great neck

Ive said it once and ill continue to say it too, warmoth old necks were stunning works of art. but the warmoth today does not even compare. Sold my buddy a brand new birdseye maple AAAA neck/FB that was literally a green piece of wood. $400 neck that was dead wood and felt like plastic it was so green. not good, considering they are a custom guitar parts manufacturer that should know better. I understand birdseye is a young tree wood anyway, but that just inreases the importance of a longer cure time.

I recommend doing your own research before hand if you go that route with warmoth.

I do not like off the shelf necks. Every guitar I play there is something about the neck I do not like so I have built many guitars. I have necks from Warmoth, USACG and Musikraft. The Warmoth was nice but I like a 2 1/4 neck width . I like the USACG but I wanted a thin D shape. The customer service with USACG is second to none. I love the Musikraft neck. It has everything I like in a neck. One piece 1/4 sawn thin old San Dimas D shape with 16 inch radius with 6100 frets with 1 11/16 at the nut and 2 1/4 and the butt end. I got brass side dots and rosewood dots. Sweet. Now the new USA Charvel model guitars have a neck with everything I like so I would look for a parted out Charvel and get the neck if you like that backshape. You can get them all day on Ebay. If not, it would be hard to beat USACG or Musikraft.

Thanks guys! Definitely gives me a few options to consider. I'm just so worried about buying a neck and not liking it. I wish there was a place that sold necks, where you could just walk in and feel a bunch of them until you found the right one lol.

I thought about this last year, then got sidetracked. Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it. Thanks! I do like that idea.

I recently bought a Allpart strat compound neck. Haven´t gotten it yet so I´m almost afraid of what you guys have to say about them.
Anyone know anything about Allpart necks?

wood quality is good/average, fretwork not so much. if rounded ball ends like J-customs and premium quality fretwire are not a top priority, then you wont be disappointed

I've done a cuple Warmoth builds and am please with their necks. Must admit I have not sampled many other suppliers products, but no reason for me to change.

No, but be sure to do your research before you shop. I recently got away by the skin of my teeth. After 8 weeks and hundreds of emails and reports I got my refund. What company?

Good luck

I paid almost 4 grand for a masterbuilt strat and recently got a musickraft neck for a spare and wow! it may be better than the masterbuilt neck!
